dear fanzone--- i heard a discussion about just switching Williams and Collins...Collins is strong and fast and stout and can play guard well against 330 pound tackles..and Williams has played tackle in college and he is
fast and can handle fast just not power?...seems like a good idea..what you all think?

A few people were talking about it yesterday. What I like about the idea is we have Fleming to step in incase Williams continues to struggle. We don't really have any competition behind Williams to push him at LG.

You want your RT to be a mauler. Williams is not. He just isn't ready to play right now.

Fact.......Sunday was his first time playing G, on any level

Early years[edit]
Williams attended Coppell High School. As a freshman, he started the last 3 games at right tackle. As a sophomore, he was moved to tight end, but by the end of the season he was switched to left tackle.

As a senior, he was a two-way player, allowing one sack and one holding penalty, while making 38 tackles (5 for loss), 3 sacks, 5 quarterback pressures, 5 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed. He was a second-team 6A All-State and an All-district selection.

He was a teammate of future NFL player Solomon Thomas. He also practiced basketball.

College career[edit]
Williams accepted a football scholarship from the University of Texas. As a freshman, he started all 12 games at left tackle.[1]

The next year, he started 11 out of 12 games at left tackle and was considered by the media and coaches one of the best offensive tackles in college football. He became just the fourth sophomore in school history to receive first-team All-American honors.

As a junior, he suffered a left knee injury in the third game against USC. He returned to play in the eleventh game against West Virginia University. He started only five out of 12 games at left tackle (first 3 and final 2 regular season contests). On November 27, 2017, Williams announced that he would forego his senior year in favor of the 2018 NFL Draft, and that he would not play in the 2017 Texas Bowl.[2]

No.

Play Xavier Su'a-Filo at LG or move Fleming to LG.

Let C-Will practice at OT.

Other options:

Move Fleming to LG and use C-Will as the backup OT.

Give Jonathan Cooper a workout to see the status of his recovery from the knee injury.

Get a time machine, go back to 2015 and sign Jermey Parnell to play RT, then keep La'el at LG.

Collins was very inconsistent at LG, but posters seems to forget about that. He has been better at RT. Williams will be fine when Frederick returns. Williams might be a good RT, but Collins wasn't a great LG when he played there. Leary was much better than Collins.

Leary was the rock on the line.

You probably have the best option with Su'A-Filo when he is ready. Just hard to develop unity when you just signed. Not sure Fleming has ever played Guard and not sure how he would do.

I think that the team will just bear with the growth of Williams...I kind of like moving Fleming inside and see if he can keep low enough to be good.

I'm just not buying into a lepricon who has a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow brought onto the roster.

When Frederick returns, this could normalize more...even with Williams. He and Collins will still get better.

The team has to remove penalties on the offensive line although...they are still way too blatant.
