I enjoy Switzer interviews. Probably because I find most interviews so PC and boring. He is highly entertaining.

What? It didn't mention anything about playing, only recruiting. Switzer recruited Aikman to OU where Troy did play in 1984 and 1985. Switzer was still the head football coach of the Sooners at that time.

Troy is the one that ruined all white QBs for Switzer. In 1985 vs Miami, Jerome Brown broke Troy's ankle. Okla had to go back to the Wishbone with Jameel Holloway and they won the National Championship. Switzer helped Aikman land at UCLA and we all know the rest. They re-united for a Super Bowl in 1995. The end.

Switzer wasn't drunk. That was just truth in his mind.

Even so, I don't think Barry quite understands what type of "backhanded/patronizing" compliment that really is. I love Barry personally...

Seems to me Manziel would be perfect for the type of offense Switzer ran at Oklahoma, which makes this even more stupid. But that's what happens when you judge someone by race, stupidity.

Right or wrong, Barry has always been very outspoken about black athletes being superior and his recruiting of them being instrumental in his winning so much.

And I heard him a few months ago making the DFW radio rounds (promoting some kind of new hip implant procedure he got) and he said the same thing, that Manziel was the only white QB he'd seen who could really run his offense.

And notice in the article he says "my offense", which was the pure wishbone triple option he preferred. They ran that some with Troy, but they also ran more I and threw the ball more. When Troy got hurt and Hollieway took over, that's when he went back to his true wishbone offense and won the national championship.

BTW, that entire OU-Miami game is on Youtube, or at least used to be... Great stuff with tons of HOFers and/or future Cowboys all over the field: Jimmy, Barry, Troy, Irvin, Jerome Brown, and several others.

What if a coach went out and said they'd never recruit a black QB ???

Double standard.

dumb comment. As for Switzer QB they ran the wishbone having a big time throwing QB was never that big of an issue and one reason OU QB seldom were drafted.
