T.O. MUST get involved early against the giants

Not because he whined a little after the Texans game. Also not to throw off our offensive balance but because we could use his emotional lift tommorow night. I think this will take a little pressure off Drew and open up JJ as well. Let's face it, T.O. can both electrify a stadium and boost a team just as easy as he can be a negative force like no other player in the league. He's just one of those players that you have to get involved EARLY (especially in huge games) to get reved up and mentally sharp throghout a game. I hope Bill is in attack mode early and often. Thoughts on how big T.O. will/should be tommorow?

I agree.

But think about how you posted this.

"Not because he whined" - why not? He was right.
"not to throw off our offensive balance" - he would bring balance.

"emotional lift" = yes
"take pressure off of Drew" = yes

His only real negative so far has been him wanting to have a positive effect on the team.. on the field....

with that said... I hear ya

If he's got single coverage, by all means get the ball to him.

But it isn't a MUST that he be involved early (see last week). And if Bledsoe thinks Owens MUST be involved early, he's gonna be forcing some throws. We've got so many options in the passing game, somebody is going to be open. The key is Bledsoe being able to find that guy, whoever he is.

I don't think it's ever a good idea to try to force passes into WRs.

It's easy to get a RB involved. You can hand off to them.

But the Giants will be going out of their way to cover TO.....We'd be foolish to try to force any balls TO's way. No, if they want to single Glenn or Witten, so be it. We'll feed them the ball.

Of course, none of it matters if we can't protect Drew.

I understood what you meant thats why I put the "I hear ya" - I just think that his fire and sometimes labeled negatives are actually positives... I know he is a whack job sometimes... but I want us to get everything we can outta him on the field... I think it gives us a better chance all around... Julius is having a better year... TO indirectly helps that...

owens SHOULD get involved early.

he should get involved in blocking downfield for his backs. he should run all his routes like each might be his last. he should get involved in ALL the duties of a WR - and leave the coaching and QBing to those hired to fill the respective positions.

and if he does all these things - he's very likely to have a fine game.

i hope it happens.

I hear ya. I think everyone could feel a little tension mounting as the first half of the Texans game wore on. Of course, T.O. has a point it's just how he sometimes handles himself. On one hand, all the premier recievers get upset when they're not involved. On the other, everything with T.O. gets blown out of proportion.

What will help most is if we get away from using this 2-TE-offense B.S. and instead play a real offense using one TE and 3 WRs. With Crayton at WR vs. Fassano going out for paases ( ) the Giant's secondary truly won't know who to cover, thy'll fall into a spread-out zone just to manage, and Glenn and T.O. will eventualy expose the soft coverage.

nothing wrong with him asking to be more involved

yeah or he's very likely to be a non-factor for too much of the game

Yeah.. I was nervous at halftime... it was 10-6....

We have to put the nails in other teams coffins and TO is a nail or maybe he is the hammer... either way... we need to start putting teams away early if we can... then we control the clock.... D can jack up opposing Offenses

They were up 6-3 on us at half and looked pretty good against the Jags today.

I think that you hit it right on the head. If I was Parcells, I would try the quick screen pass to Owens and let him work one on one against the Giants slow corners. They use Glenn a lot in that way. Quicker passes will negate the speed rushers that the Giants have on the outside. Then you anticipate the corners trying to jam and go over the top or deep.

Screens and quick slants to TO all night! The Giants would stop blitzing very very quickly.

Since NY wore us out last year with their 4 man front, they may test to see if they can get to us without a blitz first. If they do this and get pressure, TO will be doubled all game long.

But if we protect the crap out of Bledsoe, then they will be forced to send some guys, and when that happens, TO and Glenn time. On a side note, I really wish Bledsoe was a Tight End guy. Witten is almost always opened.

Look for Glenn and Witten to have big games.;)

JJ should get over 100 again and MB will have a fine game.
owens to be a decoy with a few catches.
