God knocked him down, and by "God" I mean George Teague and by "knocked him down" I mean completely and utterly obliterated him
Actually, it wasn't that hard of a hit.
But he got the message across.

That is sad. George Teague has a special place in my heart for that act of total selflessness. He stood up for the franchise that paid his bills, and believe it or not, that is a damned rarity these days. Because of that, he will always be one of my favorite players. It is fitting that Roy took over his number because I think he fills the shoes, so to speak, and realizes the honor of the Cowboys perfectly. If some other dirtbag were to showboat us on our on field, I have no doubts it would be Roy cleaning his clock and telling him to go to hell the same way Teague did.

#31. Roy. Teague.

Teague whiffed, I can only wish that he actually hit him as hard as he could.

Yeah he pulled up and hit him, almost like a getting knocked into... when we all know he had full launch capability... Owens was in the cross hairs and Teague had a running start....

He would have seriously hurt Owens...

Yeah, I was impressed how hard Roy hit him last year when Owens stood on the little star in the endzone showing off...Oh, wait, Roy just walked away looking like a beaten puppy...Nevermind.

Several reasons why he did:

1) Noone would have cared had TO pulled his original stunt in the endzone, when he ran to the middle he crossed the line because he not only showed up the team he showed up the fans, hence why I'm no fan of TO.

and

2) In the 2004 game It was Roy's request that TO keep all his celebrations in the end zone, out of respect for Roy TO complied.

I don't think Roy would have done what Teague did. He would not have done anything if Owens had gone to the star in the middle of the field. Roy's concerned about personal offense; I don't think he cares about "disrespecting the star."

Probably right, If I were a player I wouldn't think twice about knocking down an opponent who disses my fans. Now a buddy of mine...not sure I could do it.

we wouldn't have roy either. He'd be locked up for murder. :laugh2:

We'd have Roy...Not a jury in Texas would have convicted him. "Justified homicide. Now get out of my courtroom!!!"

Uneducated bandwagon fans are the worse....do you know back in the late 80's and early 90's I actually had people tell me they were Cowboy/Niner fans. I would have liked to have slapped the stupid out of their mouths but then there would be nothing left.

Just imagine how cool it would have been for Emmitt or Troy or Michael to have come off the bench and levelled TO. In total lack of concern about fines or suspensions. To me it would have been momentous for one of our leaders to have stepped up. But I'm just thankful that GT did it. He will forever be remembered as one of the great Cowboys not for the ferocity of the hit but for the fact of the statement the hit made. You can't show TO's antic without showing GT doing his thing.

For someone like me who grew up a Cowboy fan...that meant a lot.

GT in the Ring of Honor!!! :bow:Ok...that may be a bit much...but you get my feeling.

im hearing a lot of people say that it wouldv'e been a lot harder if roy did it, and i agree, but it was before roy's time, what if Darren Woodsone hadn't been ejected from the game earlier on? Woody wouldv'e knocked TO out cold

What if?

If only?

So what.

The fact remains that if the team had any leadership or guts, TO would have been clocked by all 11 defenders the FIRST time he did it. Instead they stood around and let TO mock them.

I have no problem with TO doing it again, because the Cowboys that day sent the message early that they were going to lie down and take that crap.

I am not impressed with what Teague did because it was too little and far far too late.

I agree. My best friend and I talked about this the other day. We both felt he should have been completley killed after that. In baseball someone would have thrown at him. In Hockey he would have been eating the wall. I actually felt he got off very easy.
