Eagles Notes: Kearse skips game, goes to T.O.'s party T.O.'s party

Defensive end Jevon Kearse made an appearance in the Eagles' locker room yesterday after making an appearance at Terrell Owens' birthday party Monday in Hollywood.

Running back Brian Westbrook asked Kearse the tough questions about the party.

"Were you the only [player from the Eagles] that got an invitation?" Westbrook asked.

"I wasn't working that night," Kearse said. "You were working."

"Did Donovan [McNabb] get an invitation?" Westbrook asked.

"Probably," Kearse said before quickly changing the subject. "You were working that night. You did a great job."

And what about the party?

"If you all want to know, the party was great," said Kearse, who is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery. "I hung out with Chris Rock, Shirley from Laverne and Shirley. I forget her real name. Penny Marshall."

She was actually Laverne, but that was so long ago, who remembers?

"Also Bobby Brown," Kearse said. Someone wanted to know if Kearse got the inside on Brown and Whitney Houston.

"I don't know," he said. "I was looking for the mistress."

Darren Howard has injured knee

Eagles defensive end Darren Howard has one sack in the team's last seven games. He has assisted on just one tackle in the last two games. Now, there's a question about whether he'll play Sunday against the Washington Commanders because of a knee injury.

"You've got to play through it," defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said yesterday when asked if nagging injuries are affecting the play of Howard and linebacker Matt McCoy. "Guys in this league are going to be banged up at this time of year, and sometimes you've got to limit their reps."

Howard played less and veteran defensive end Juqua Thomas played more in the Eagles' 27-24 victory against the Carolina Panthers on Monday night. McCoy did not play on defense because the Eagles opted to start rookie Omar Gaither at weakside linebacker instead. Gaither will start again Sunday. Johnson wouldn't say if the rookie would finish the season as the starting weakside linebacker.

For the second straight day, Howard did not practice because of his knee injury. He remained listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Howard, who signed a six-year, $25.1 million contract that included a $3.5 million signing bonus in March, got off to a good start this season, with three sacks and two forced fumbles in the Eagles' first five games.

But since he had eight tackles and two sacks in a win over Dallas on Oct. 8, his production has dropped off.

Johnson said he is hopeful that Howard will return to practice today. Howard was not available to comment.

Extra points

Cornerback Rod Hood (pulled hamstring) returned to practice, but he is still listed as questionable on the Eagles' injury report. Safety Michael Lewis (concussion) practiced and his status was upgraded to probable.

So which still backs up my theory that mcnabb was a big cry baby and punk

who didn't want to share the spotlight, because all of T.O's former

teammates are still cool with him and doesn't say anything negative about him including dawkins and trotter.

you know whats funnier that kearse could care less what happened with his team.
He was more concerned with getting out to vegas to party with T.O.

He had plenty of friends on the Eagles and still does.

Most will tell you the only people he had a major problem with was McNabb and team henchman Hugh Douglas.

The media has deftly avoided speaking about the close ties he still has with many players on that team, included Kearse and especially Trotter. It's much easier to portray him as some lone pariah who tore that team apart.

Kearse is injured.

Many times injured players don't travel with the team and aren't even on the sidelines for home games. I doubt Reid is losing any sleep over it.

And if he is, his priorities are all wrong.
