You and I must have watched a completely different game, Tony could not get any type of pass to work because guy's were just not creating seperation. It was an awful performance on offense.
Off the top I remember Austin getting wide open on a slant but dropping the ball, and Glenn getting wide open downfield against Smoot (really anyone who was matched up against Smoot was wide open) but Tony overthrowing him. There are more.
Tony was off too, that game. Inaccurate and a bit sloppy, iirc.
The Commanders were ready for what we wanted to do on offense. And since we had locked it up, we were hardly in the mood for mixing it up and showing new stuff to them. I think chalking that poor performance up solely to TO's absence is a bit oversimplistic.
A lack of TO would hurt the offense. But I still think we're a playoff team, with or without him. If we took the time to plan an offense around his absence, I think you'd see a pretty good offense trotted out each week, still. Not as dynamic, but still pretty good. When you have a strong running game, a fantastic QB and one of the best TEs in the NFL, you're going to be at least "pretty good" - with or without TO.
