There is no Cowboys without TO just like there was no Cowboys without Irvin.;)

Agreed, we looked absolutely horrible without him in the final game and a half last year, it opened some eye's to just how important he is. Not only when he's catching it, but the coverage he draws free's everyone else.

Its not just said for effect. Its true.

Take TO out of equation and we have hard time going 8-8.

One can speculate on our record without TO all they want, and his loss would definitely hurt our team...that goes without question.

...but to say "there is no cowboys without TO" is pretty dumb IMO. There is still a team without the guy, and I'll still root for them, with or without TO.

No way. This team would be much better than an average team, even without TO.

This includes the game against the Skins where we basically didn't gameplan?

It includes the game against Washington where we were horrible...we had our starters out for the first half and looked terrible. No excuses to why we were horrible, T.O. wasn't there and we had no receivers open at all.

Completely agree.

You just shift your focus. That becomes tough to do at the end of the season when your entire offense is built on having an all-world talent at WR. If that changes, suddenly you're running the ball more, and you're finding different ways to move the ball.

Losing TO would definitely hurt, but his presence doesn't make or break our football team. Not anymore than his absence prevented Philly from continuing to win. Certainly they were more dynamic with him in there, but there is enough talent elsewhere to continue to win if you make the right changes - no matter what people read from a game and a half of homefield-advantage-locked-up evidence from last season.

That's hardly true. We had plenty of receivers open. If anyone was matched up on Smoot - he was open. There were plenty of receivers open in that game.

You and I must have watched a completely different game, Tony could not get any type of pass to work because guy's were just not creating seperation. It was an awful performance on offense.

Off the top I remember Austin getting wide open on a slant but dropping the ball, and Glenn getting wide open downfield against Smoot (really anyone who was matched up against Smoot was wide open) but Tony overthrowing him. There are more.

Tony was off too, that game. Inaccurate and a bit sloppy, iirc.

The Commanders were ready for what we wanted to do on offense. And since we had locked it up, we were hardly in the mood for mixing it up and showing new stuff to them. I think chalking that poor performance up solely to TO's absence is a bit oversimplistic.

A lack of TO would hurt the offense. But I still think we're a playoff team, with or without him. If we took the time to plan an offense around his absence, I think you'd see a pretty good offense trotted out each week, still. Not as dynamic, but still pretty good. When you have a strong running game, a fantastic QB and one of the best TEs in the NFL, you're going to be at least "pretty good" - with or without TO.
