Anyone have it? Is it faster than Cable? I'm being upgraded to it within the next 3-5 days.

A T1 internet connection is an old school business/premium quality 1.5Mbps internet connection, which is slow by today's standards.

It has 24 64k channels which when paired with the right equipment can be used as all data (1.5Mbps) or as fractional T1 data and voice channels.

I had no idea they were still selling them.

Are you in a rural area?

T1 lines used to be the standard for businesses as they could split a full T1 into a data/voice connection (24 channels) and add voice lines as they needed them while using the rest for data.

The problem with phone-based direct lines (ex: DSL) has always been they have a max distance (I think it's around 18,000 feet) before they start to suffer from data degradation and ultimately data packet loss.

A T1 line has a longer range and can also be boosted some as well, so I guess I could see there still being a use for them to reach semi-rural areas.

Unless they redefined what "T1" is, it's a 24x64k channel which is 1.536 Mbps, so your 16.2 MBps would be way faster in theory.

Now perhaps they are not talking about an industry standard "T1" line but rather a product/service brand of their own called "T1" such as "Tier 1" or something?

SE Oklahoma you say, i knows it more east than south but i spent half of my childhood at Lake Eufaula. Whereabouts you at? I know there are lots of desolate areas around there where one could get lost, or even hurt.

You have satellite or actual WIFI? I know some folks in Woodward (over by the panhandle) who recently got satellite, but not really in the true sense of "satellite" in that it comes from space, if that makes sense. They place beacons on high structures and beam to a dish on your residential structure. If you're in the sticks, I would be hard-pressed to believe there's true WIFI service in those areas because it really wouldn't seem to make sense. You really need volume to counteract the piss poor performance, IMO. Or maybe it would, who knows. I rented a small place once for a short period of time in Cortez, Co, the internet was actual satellite, and it sucked. Worse speeds than you are seeing. I basically finagled a way to get my phone to be a hotspot through a jailbreak on the iPhone and the cell speeds far exceeded the satellite speeds. It wasn't even close and I think that was back in the 3G days.

I think Reality is probably on the money on this one. The company is either using "T1" based on whatever name recognition might be left, or they're referring to something else. Traditional T1 hasn't been a term I have even heard in nearly 20 years.

Yeah can’t be the traditional T1 line. Must be something different.
