I can only comment on the Google Nexus 7. I love it. I use it every day. I watch baseball using MLB.TV. I read both books and magazines. Netflix, movies, games to burn time, and of course I'm surfing CBZ with it right now.

It supports Bluetooth so it can support both keyboards and even mice I believe.

the thing i don't like about the nexus is it's not upgradable. at least i've not found where to add a mini sd card. :)

Amazon's east coast servers are in Virginia, not NY.

They have servers in:
  • Virginia (handles all East Coast and central North American traffic)
  • Oregon (West Coast traffic)
  • California (also West Coast traffic)
  • Ireland (Europe traffic)
  • Japan (NE Asian Pacific traffic)
  • Singapore (SW Asian Pacific traffic)
  • Sao Paulo (South America traffic)

Amazon is the big fish, it charges sales tax in most states I believe. I know it does it NY.

Yeah, it doesn't support SD cards. I can;t figure out why any of these companies wouldn't put one on it. It's ignorant. I'm willing to bet it is about speeding up the upgrade process.

Google doesn't like SD cards. If you look at the nexus phones i think all but 1 have no sd card slot. You could always grab an OTG cable a thumb drive and tada infinite storage ;)

...if these tablets can support MS Office Pro.

I use this software exclusively and I also have been thinking about getting a tablet to make my plane trips lighter.

I do a ton of spreadsheeting. Play no games. Only surf Cowboyszone when I am at home or offices I travel to.

Stay with laptop or go with tablet?

Most tablets don't support active USB ports so if you need that then stay with the laptop. I don't know tablets well enough to say more.

I don't think so. Google Drive (and all other options) are different than an SD slot. I don't think these Cloud drives aren't done evolving either. Today a constant link to Cloud drives aren't possible and the connection isn't anywhere near fast enough for all types of today's data. (movies, etc)

Until constant very high speed connections are possible, I think Cloud drives will grow have a new type of file system. Sort of a subscribe type file system where you subscribe to data you want in sync with a specific device. (well, until we get giant terabyte or larger drives on our mobile devices. ) This will allow you to subscribe data you currently want on your device. (movie, photo album, certain files, etc)
