Probably hanging out with this guy, who the Cowboys probably wouldn't have picked if they had taken Watt the year before. I'm ok with how things have worked out.

I think many people's issue with the pick (Taco over Watt) was the attempted justification behind it. Of the people here who follow the draft and college football closely, many wanted Watt over Taco so this isn't hindsight either.

It's hindsight. There are many people who wanted Foster or McDowell, obviously Taco worked out better than those. Maybe McKinley too, who people wanted us to trade up for. Carl Lawson didn't go until the fourth and he might be better than all of them.

What logic are you using here?

Watt is a DE in a 4-3, Charlton is a 4-3 DE.

LVE is a LB. They drafted a LB a year after drafting a DE.

It's not hindsight if people stated it before the draft and up until the actual pick.

Of course other people had other opinions. That wasn't the argument.

Two completely different positions and roles, but nice try.

Fan logic. Homer logic. Can't face facts logic. Cant handle the truth logic. Can't deal with anything that might not paint the Cowboys in a positive light logic.

Was it ever really determined who made the call on Charlton versus Watt? Marinelli?

The fact that the NFL has shifted from calling the positions "4-3 DE" and "3-4 OLB" to calling them all "Edge Rushers" should help enlighten some of you knuckleheads that they are essentially the same position.

Or you can look at the fact that DeMarcus Ware went from 4-3 DE in college to 3-4 OLB under Parcells and Wade back to 4-3 DE under Kiffin/Marinelli to 3-4 OLB in Dever's scheme,

or the fact that this year's 4th round pick Dorance Armstrong (6-4/255) and TJ Watt (6-4/252) are the same size, but keep holding onto this ludicrous idea that TJ Watt couldn't have played in our scheme.

LOL. What?

And LOL at Denim Chicken for liking this post.

What does Watt have to do with LVE?

That's my point, though. The consent comparison of these two is irrational when there is so many draft opinions out there. The narrative that these two players are somehow linked is erroneous.

Why does Jerry and Garrett get blamed for the bad picks and McClay get praised for the good ones.
