IMO, Taco is the one player who can step up and make a major difference - now.

through 7 games just 1 sack each from Gregory, Irving, and Charlton ... Taco is last man standing, at the moment, and the one who's been here all along ... the extra snaps will or should help

a R1 pick frequently disappearing is a real bad sign, it ain't like he lacks raw talent, but he can't let himself get caught in the shuffle - it's time to make his mark.

frankly, he looks in razor sharp condition but frustrated ... they have to turn that to intensity

After his first year I said I would take a second round pick for him no questions asked. He’s got the body of an athlete, but none of the talent.

The thing about tacos is that they look great on your plate, but the next day, they give you the runs....

Or they give the other team the runs on game day because they play like crap

You just went over all the reasons in your initial write up exactly why it wont be Soft Taco. The guy simply doesn't show up week after week.

the talent is there - but he only plays well when ticked off

Agreed. Gregory and Irvin are one substance abuse or other personal issue away from year long suspensions and always will be. Not to mention they both get knicked up quite a bit regularly - concussions in the mix. Missing so much playing time not only makes their on field play inconsistent - I think it hurts the game-planning and development of other players like Taco - and is an opportunity cost (these guys take up roster spots - preventing other players and creating an ILLUSION that we have mega talent on Dline - if they don't practice/play because of off-field issues and suspensions and they are getting football fit during the season....that doesn't cut it).

Taco needs playing time and to keep getting stronger and developing his rush moves (and learning when to contain) - but he is at least reliable off the field so far - the forgotten man. I know everyone on this forum has mixed feelings about Crawford's contract, but at least the guy tries and never does stuff to get suspended, and plays through various injuries without complaint. This team has been let down too often by the Gregory's and Irvin's (add in the Hardy's and Rolondo McLains) and needs more maturity, smarts, and reliability to go along with those players' obvious physical talent, IF the team wants to make the next step and do damage in playoffs at some point........

And yes, Pay Lawrence (but get his shoulder fixed in offseason).

anybody got a snap count?

sometimes you have to your people on killing ground to get the most from them

Taco has been incredibly disappointing so far.

As if right now he is on his way to bust status if he doesn’t start to show anything.

1.5 years is enough time to start showcasing his ability.

It took Lawrence 3 years to start to look like what he is now. Taco was always gonna take time, he was raw talent

I found your thread wildly optimistic. In fact, if I was to pick a few players on D that would have NO chance to step it up, Taco would be on that list.

I always get a kick of this angle. So are you saying that Taco is the next Lawrence?

And just to blow that angle completely out of the water lets look at the facts:

-Lawrence got injured his rookie season and only played in the last 6 games where he played very sparingly. So that season was basically a wash out.

-His 2nd season in the NFL he played all 16 games, and had 55 TACKLES AND 8 SACKS!!!!

-In this 3rd season he was suspended and also fought injuries.

So even early on in only his second season the guy showed great ability with 8 sacks. Soft Taco is showing nothing close to that. In fact, when you watch him play he gets pushed around like a rag dol.

Speak for yourself lol. May want to have that looked into

All I know is that we need someone to step up opposite Lawrence if we are ever going to have a true elite defense. Is Bruce Irvin a 10 sack/yr guy?
