For a few years now the NFL has been taking away defenses ability to touch receivers. Goal is points. Fans want TD's..... Just like baseball covets homeruns.

I heard an alarming stat on offensive holdings. The # of holdings is down this year at a very drastic rate versus last year.

What does that do? Keeps QB's clean and they can better pick a defense to shreds.

Brady 79.5% - 10.1 YPC
Schaub 75.9% - 8.3 YPC
Warner 75% - 12.9 YPC

These are unprecedented #'s and its not all dinking and dunking. Those YPC are staggering.

Also approx. 10 other QB's are at over 65% completions. The offenses are taking out defenses in this new era that is dawning. Somewhere the NFL is smiling as they are driving it their with subtle rule and rule enforcement policies......

Interestingly Romo has staggering YPC but below average % completions when compared against league. But he is also putting up near 40 points a game.

It was the second week (14/29 against Miami) that brought him down. He's a solid 62% the other two weeks.

Right now he's third in TDs and QB rating, 6th in passing yards, 2nd in Yards per Attempt.....he looks solid.

I agree - Romo is producing and scoring points for us. Just noting that QB's completing 75% - 79% with big average yard completion stats is eye opening....

As is the fact refs are not calling as many offensive holdings.....

That lack of calls is a good point. Honestly, I won't be surprised to see the big numbers falling as the season goes along.

JMHO though.

Great point , I was talking about this the other day at work and how the football fan in me is worried that the NFL is becoming too much of a 4th quarter league the past few years, (Similiar to the NBA IMO) I know they don't like blowouts because the don't want people to tune out but why do we need "the greatest comeback in nfl history" every week! too many b.s penalties being thrown at the D to prolong drives again just my opinion ..

but

the gambler in me loves it because i love to play those overs :D

not for us they arnt

amazing how they can be down league wide, yet we get nailed multiple times every game

that after going the first two preseason games with hardly any penalties

Sad thing is we've had at least 2 holding calls on us that weren't even holding.

that was my point

and we see all these questionable or even dubious holding calls on our guys (many times wiping out significant gains), yet Ware, Ellis (when he was playing) etc etc can be tackled, dragged down, have their jersey's almost removed etc etc and almost never get the call

kinda like this horsecollar b/s...only applies for one guy, and any other team doing it to us its ignored

League wide holding calls are way down.

And % completions are off the charts league wide.
