1. Will Grier is not making the 53. Dak and Rush are the only QB's active. Grier makes fundamental mistakes (like throwing back across his body) and really offers no more than any of the other 31 third string quarterbacks in NFL camps right now.
2. Deuce Vaughn is RB 2. The Cowboys are keeping Rico Dowdle but it's hard to justify not getting the ball in Deuce's hands around ten times a game.
3. The backup o-line remains a mess. Waletzko was bad and then he got hurt again. None of the interior guys played well to my untrained eyes. I think the only player that got some decent blocks was Asim Richards.
4. Jalen Tolbert is now good enough that the Cowboys might have to give him some snaps when the games count.
5. Losing Overshown is a major blow. Now the backup LB's are Cox and Harper unless Dallas finds some guys on the waiver wire. Overshown was Jayron Kearse 2.0 and I think Quinn was planning on using him a lot this season. Now it looks like that waits until 2024.
6. Rough game for Eric Scott, but leaving him in single coverage really isn't a fair evaluation. He did have one nice PBU that I remember.
7. Rough game for Viliami Fehoku. He bites hard on misdirection plays. And on one snap I saw a tight end stonewall him one on one.
8. Dennis Houston has ability. With the WR room so crowded I wonder if the Cowboys can trade him for a late pick come cutdown time.

Imagine thinking the Cowboys might be able to trade Dennis Houston for a draft pick.
A conditional 7th is not out of question if a team has WR injuries and liked him in the draft process a couple years ago. I mean the Cowboys once gave up a 7th for a DT named Eli Ankou. Is getting the same for Houston any less ridiculous?

Certainly, a good thing Dallas took an OL in the 1st round....oh wait, that was a projected 2nd-round 1T DT....I meant good thing Dallas took an OL in the 2nd round....oh wait, that was a nearly 25-year-old blocking TE...I meant good thing Dallas took an OL in the 3rd round....oh wait, that was a back-up LB now thought to be out for the year with injury....I meant good thing Dallas took an OL in the 4th round....oh wait, that was a project at DE....I meant good thing Dallas took an OL in the 5th round....YES, there is the OL, a college LT trying to transition to LG as Dallas likes to do.

Yeah, Grier is hit or miss. But watching some of these preseason games with backup OL, QBs do one of two things. Get the ball out quick with a check down or quick out. Or scramble out of the pocket to go down field. This is pretty common with any game I've watched when backup OL were playing. How is it possible to properly evaluate a QB?

While that is true, you can almost expect that sort of pressure as a 3rd, because the defensive plan will be to blitz until he can prove to be able to handle the pressure. Grier has a lot of work to do still.

1. Agreed. Grier had his chance and blew it. Another year on the practice squad.
2. Deuce has talent but is not the #2 back, that goes to Rico after the Seattle game.
4. Tolbert is the clear cut 4 WR
8. Dennis Houston is back on the practice squad and no we will not get a pick for him.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but the female play by play announcer was the absolute worst I've ever heard. I had to turn it off.
That entire Seahawks broadcast team was terrible. Too loud and over the top. And she was the worst. Made a field goal in the second preseason game sound like it was the winning score in the last minute of the Super Bowl.

Also turned off the sound.

They think sometimes that trades are the way to solve everything! A guy at the bottom of the WR list, will basically get us a 2nd rounder right?? lol

My take on the Seattle game: The Cowboys held out 26 players from the game, most of the top of their depth chart at nearly every position. With the possible exceptions of Osa Odighizuwa, Ferguson and Damone Clark, none of the other starters played.

Projected offensive starters that didn’t play: Prescott, Pollard, Smith, Smith, Biadasz, Martin, Steele, Lamb, Gallup, Cooks.

Projected Defensive Starters that didn’t play: Parsons, Lawrence, Hankins, Vander Esch, Bland, Diggs, Gilmore, Kearse, Wilson and Hooker.

My take is that it is nigh on impossible to have a take from preseason games with very few starting players playing in the game.

Schoonmaker is a tight end that can block and catch.

High school Oline coach here. Completely disagree with #3. I watched the first half a few times. The narrative that the Oline was crap is really baffling to me.
Remember, the Cowboys played all 5 backups, the Seahawks had all of their starting Dline. Despite that, Richards dominated, and Farniok and Ball looked really good. Bass also showed a lot of promise. I agree that Waletzko struggled, but the other three more than held their own.
Also, during the season, if say, Smith goes down and Richards comes in, he will be playing with four other starters, the offense (unless Garrett is back) will give him help, not that I think he will need it.
Also, remember our #1 veteran OL Edoga is still supposed to be back soon.
I feel much better about our depth after the Seattle game.

Be fair. The OP did say a late pick.

I agree, however, that it isn't possible to even get that for Houston. A guy with a 33% catch rate in 6 career targets and 8 yards per catch has no trade value. He's of more value to the Cowboys on the practice squad to see if his preseason flashes the last 2 years can develop into something
