Taking the following injuries into consideration; coupled with traditional rehab times, what percent will your previously injured players be when the 2006 Regular Season begins (feel free to add injuries/change rehab times as you feel appropriate)?

Type Injury...................... Time needed to become 100-Percent

ACL.................................. 18 months

Achilles tendon....................1-2 years (rare injury)

Compound Fractures.............1 year (?)

Torn Ligaments ...................1-2 years

Mult.knee ligament damage.....2 years (?)

QB: McNabb (90%); Garcia (100%)

RB: Westbrook (100%); Moats (100%)

WR: Gaffney (100%); Reggie Brown (100%)

Slow down.

You can do your cowboys list.

It is not just about the eagles.

I was listening to Bryan Cox on Fox Sports Radio a few months back. He said he had talked to people that had the same injury as McNabb. He said they told him it takes a full two years to recover completely...

My biggest injury concern is Burnett and Flo...rumors are that he won't be ready to go by TC.

I hope Flo is 100% by TC.

since PT started a thread regarding injuries, now i am wondering myself. I think the team is in pretty good shape. On Defense i think Henry was the question mark and LB depth. On offense aside from Flo there were some guys banged up but they were minor injuries, so are there any players anyone is worried about for the upcoming year ?

ACL.................................. 18 months

Actually about 9 months and the player should be fine. I remember when Bernard King tore his ACL and back then your career was over. Now it's just a mild speed bump. Flozell Adams tore his ACL and was allegedly near 100% about 3 months down the road.

Now, getting confidence in the knee and what position you play have bigger factors. I'd say no more than 12 months.

Achilles tendon....................1-2 years (rare injury)

Usually a year. However, players tend to have a hard time regaining their confidence. Jon Jansen tore his achilles in August 2004 and had no problem making Skins camp in 2005 and played very well last season.

Mult.knee ligament damage.....2 years (?)

Sounds about right although I think this is more of doctor confidence issue. By Willis McGahee's account, he was all set to play in September after suffering the terrible triad (torn ACL, MCL, and PCL) in February of that year. Of course, his recovery was almost supernatural.

QB: McNabb (90%); Garcia (100%)

RB: Westbrook (100%); Moats (100%)

WR: Gaffney (100%); Reggie Brown (100%)

All of the Eagles players should be about 100%. Even McNabb from the sounds of it just needed to get the surgery and some rest and could've played come December if they got him the surgery in September. Even with the injury, the Eagles would've been doing pretty well if they didn't have a coach that thought throwing the ball 72% of the time was a good idea.

I'd be more concerned about Flozell. From the sounds of it, he's already 100% and was close to 100% back in December (according to Parcells in a PC). My main concern about Flozell is not if he's 100%, it's if he gets injured again since once you tear the ACL, it's easier to do it again.

That's somewhat alarming for my team if accurate. Did Bryan indicate whether the people he referred to actually had the surgery, or elected to recover without the surgery?

Here's another thing about NFL injuries that I've observed through the years.

Players are strongly encouraged to get off of the IR list, and back out into the play action.

Players/coaches may feel as though an injury could jeopardize their team's opportunity for success if they prolong the rehab process ...many times to the extent that they return prematurely.

Players may sometimes get a false feeling of "bad conscience;" believing that the team/coaches suspects they are slacking or exaggerating their injury for whatever reasons.

Players/coaches may question whether or not they are capable of rehab; and whether their injury is non-recoverable.

Players may fear that the coach will assign someone else on the team that could permanently take their starting position (primarily offensive spots -- defensive postitions rotate frequently ...depth is welcomed).

Yes... they had had the surgery...

He said they said they were physically able to play after a year, but weren't fully recovered for two years...

It could be a different scenario with McNabb... that was just what bcox was saying...

Interesting.

I sure hope bcox misses on this one. One more question ...were these "people" that bcox interviewed, all Quarterbacks. I ask because of the intensity of effort required verses the level of the injury... may also impact on the timeframe of the player's rehab.

Just a fleeting thought ...or perhaps a desparate stab in the wind!:(
