The more things change the more they stay the same. I figure there have been several threads about this in the past, but I haven't been a part of them. I went back and just ran the record of the team since JG started as head coach (only his full seasons though). I wanted to know what our record against teams that were against 6 win or worse teams, 7-9 to 9-7 teams, and against 10 win and up teams.

Against 6 win or less teams: Record is 30-4 (three losses coming without Romo on the field and last year vs Denver).

Against the mid-tier: 22-22

Against the ten win and up teams: 10-24

It helps me to look at numbers like this to justify what type of team JG coaches. It has been said before, but I think the numbers back up the assertion that JG is a mid-tier coach in general. He brings a grind it out approach and doggedly harps on effort. It is extremely rare therefore that his team loses to the guppy team that does not really care about winning and is looking to the following year (a true rebuilding team).

His team is up and down against similar teams-winning games against the other try hards and losing about the same number. Then against the true elites, his team gets exposed.

It is difficult to get excited (at least for me) about a team winning against a Giants team that looks every bit as bad as the 2-14 crap show they showed last season. That offensive line of theirs will get the QB put in a body bag-I'm surprised they scored a point yesterday. Yes, I agree the Cowboys defensive line looks much better compared to years past. We will know more when it comes to games versus the Jags, Eagles, Falcons, and possibly Saints (though they are having some problems). The schedule does not look too bad at this point, especially the next 3 opponents.
