Talk about Stupid! Starting Dak in a completely meaningless game

Prior to the season, our coaches and Jerry are so worried about our QB getting injured they refuse to give him ANY snaps in a preseason game. Not even 1 series with the starting offense!

He is NOT 100% prepared for the game speed of the 1st REAL game of the season because he did not play in the preseason, BUT our coaches and Jerry are going to start Dak in a completely meaningless game at the end of the season, and risk a major injury that could effect next season, when the games will matter!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a realistic fan. We had our chance to make the playoffs. We blew it. Winning this meaningless game can only hurt our future. Here’s how:

1. A key player could go down with a catastrophic injury. Rest all your elite players.
2. If we lose our last 2 games we MIGHT pick in the top 10. If we win one, or both meaningless games, we could drop all the way down to the16th-18th pick. This is a huge difference!!!!
3. If the defense even looks marginally good, Jerry might decide Eberflus should stay. Eberflus needs to look bad( blown coverages etc.). We are not going anywhere, next year if Eberflus is still the DC!!

Although we agree on almost everything here, I have to disagree. Whatever is left of this season, there are players playing for contracts, coaches coaching to coach in '26. Although it's evident the message of playing hard/winning hasn't resonated with the team for most of the year, such a move of sitting Dak clouds an already cloudy situation

A team cannot develop a philosophy based on fear of injuries.

To win in the NFL you have to play your best players.

To develop a culture of winning you have to demonstrate that winning is important to you. It is far more important than draft position.

Getting good players is only half the challenge. If it was 100% of the challenge then why are the same teams constantly drafting in the top 5 every season? They had a shot at the best players, not in just the 1st round but every round.

And what did that get the Jets? The Cardinals? The Giants?

How did teams like the Patriots and Chiefs draft in the bottom quarter every season and still make it to the championship games constantly for a decade and beyond?

They had a winning culture. This was the priority no matter the circumstances.

If Cowboys management does not demonstrate that winning is the priority this season, then why should players and fans believe it any season as a Cowboy.

Preseason is a complete waste of time and will continue to get reduced when they extend the season to 18 games.
