Yet another lesson for all those who see something like what happened with Brooking this week, and think that that equals winning a football game.

It is talent
It is coaching (strategy)
It is organization and discipline
It is commitment to excellence that characterizes MOST of the team members
It is unpredictables (health, a few bounces of the ball etc.)

But if you don't have all those things clicking you can talk before a game all you want, and you can "play for your coach" all you want, and you will still lose.

I really believe that Notre Dame's players liked Charlie Weiss well enough, but they folded like a house of cards when they could have saved his job.

If you believed Brooking this week, and some others, a lot of players like Wade Phillips. I wonder if they liked him last year when almost no one thought he should be retained after the players laid a 44-6 on the ground.

Do the Cowboys have talent? They have enough.
Do they have excellent coaching? No
Are they a highly disciplined bunch? It doesn't appear so
Is the majority of the team committed to doing the extra things to be excellent? Who knows, but given the results it seems questionable

I actually think the Cowboys have been pretty fortunate on the unpredictables this year. No real major injuries that I can think of, prior to DWade today and it seems he will be fine.

I'm sorry, if you really believe that the talent is good enough, then I think you have to look at coaching/discipline/commitment to excellence.

You can't fire all of the players, I think we need a new coaching staff from top to bottom. I also think whoever takes the helm has to be "the guy", but will Jerry ever do that again?
