The US population is about 13% African American -- there are many movies directed at that audience. Why wouldn't it be the same with gays? Back in the 70's African American culture became very popular and mainstream -- the same thing is happening with gay culture. Similarly, the movie that we were all talking about is showing that hillbilly culture is also becoming mainstream.
Me, I'd far rather that a few gay couples moved into my neighborhood than NASCAR-loving hillbillies. Wouldn't you?
