Exactly.

They just won the SB and aren't content to just cut some fat, draft some new players and roll into 2018. They think they can get even better than they were and their GM is aggressive and uses every tool at his disposal.

Our front office has basically said, "Nah, we'll just get better though the draft............."

It's frustrating but expected from a front office that has failed for 22 years.

I like that Stephen Jones has acknowledged that the team needs to do better in free agency, but I'm not sure the front office understands how. It seems more like they are just depending on McClay's group choosing better from the bargain bin than making a concerted effort to go after quality FAs.

I don't have a problem not going after Bennett, but I do have a problem if our approach to trades and FA is going to remain non-aggressive. We need to be knocking on every door to find ways to improve this team. Cost has to be considered, but the team needs to realize it's not going to get better without being realistic about what it costs.

It’s hilarious watching the homers try to rationalize how this wasn’t a good move for Philly and how they wouldn’t want Bennett on Dallas.

LOL.
It was a good move from a talent perspective and maybe made their team better.

No thanks though, I can't stand him! No character and no class!

Yeah it’s almost like it would be impossible for a team to win with Michael Bennett on it...oh wait, he has a super bowl ring and was a key part of a team that consistently won in the playoffs for a decent stretch

The same fan base that cheered for Greg Hardy? LMAO. I remember the whole “sacks comin” campaign. So you can beat up a woman but don’t take a stand for a social issue. Outstanding!

So again I’m curious to see how his pressures look not playing half his games in front of the 12th man

I totally misunderstood your first post. By "12th man" I thought you meant the fact that for half the season, DLaw would be held a half a dozen times per game without it being called by the Referee. I thought you meant Referee by 12th man.

That D-line is disgusting.
Barnett-Cox-Jernigan-Graham
Bennett-Long-Allen-Curry(?)

That's probably the best DL in football.

Ours?

Realistically with this FO:
Lawrence-Irving-Collins-Taco
Crawford-Hurst-FA-Tapper.
We have possibly five reliable pass rushers-
Lawrence, Irving, Collins, Taco, Crawford. Six if they take another 3T in Hurst.
Run defense? Depth? 1T?
That's where Philly eats our lunch.

A guy they probably needed, seeing as they forced ZERO punts in the SB.

Sacks in 2017

Eagles: 38
Your sorry *** Cowboys: 38

Eagles has something like 50 more QB pressures than we did.

If anyone is trying to convince themselves our pass rush is as good as theirs....... LOL

Their pass rush is great.
I do think we have a pretty good one
when everybody is healthy.
But add a legit 1T and a RDE and then we can start comparing D-Lines.

Even with Lawrence, our pass rush was pretty much league average in terms of sacks and QB pressures. I think people tend to overrate how good it is because it was horrid the past couple of years. So an average year last year looked fantastic in our eyes.

It's why I'd still be pouring resources, like Philly, into the DL and DE. We have a DE in Lawrence who is a great player and Irving could get in that class. But we don't even sniff what they have at DT with Cox and Jernigan.

Oh, so you prefer your own personal agenda of what an NFL player should act like over winning...got it, say no more.

I'm always up for improving the DL; it's the most important unit on defense.
I wouldn't be opposed to double dipping
on DL in the first two rounds (like Carolina when they took Short and Star Lutulelei).
I want at the minimum three starting caliber ends and three starting caliber tackles.
I want at least three elite D-linemen, period.
Lawrence is a big building block, IMO.
People quickly forget the last half of 2015.
Irving sure is a dynamic interior rusher;
is he better suited as a pass rushing specialist inside though?
I like Taco and think he likely becomes a 6-8 sack guy.
Can Maliek take the next step and can we please not waste him at 1T where he gets pushed around badly?
