This guy should be our 2nd Rd target. He's everything we wish Zeke was. Fast and shifty with great power. Hard to bring down. Has a late 2nd rd grade. Can give you 20 carries and an excellent receiver. Plus, he'll cost you 5% of Zeke's salary.

He is a good one. They might draft 2 backs.

I'm all for it if he is there. I'm just skeptical he makes it to our pick in the 2nd. Seems like most mocks have him going in the 3rd, but he also seems to be gaining momentum, and could be a riser in the combine with a good workout. I could see him as the 3rd RB on some teams boards.

A lot of talented backs in this draft that i would be happy with. to me, rb film/highlights are the most fun to watch.

Abanikanda just stands out more than anyone else ive seen. 5ft11, 215 lbs, wont be 21 until the season starts. rare blend of size, speed, balance and acceleration. to me, he looks like a longer legged LaDainian Tomlinson.

He looks a lot like the guys Mike Shanahan used to get over 1000 yards. One cut and go backs with more lateral agility than long speed.

Tank finds the right hole and hits it hard, and you can go a long ways in the NFL just doing that consistently, so I'm bullish on his outlook. I just don't think he has the top gear to be a difference maker. Probably a 4.5 guy.

He's not a bad athlete - 6'0" 213 with good burst and great cuts - but by NFL standards, he's a pretty middle of the road one. RB is a spot where size and speed really play.

I'd grade him as a 3rd rounder as it stands, but a fast 40 time would push him towards the second in my book. I really like his all-around game, and measurables are the only big thing I can hold against him.

The Cowboys need to let the draft come to them, most importantly the running back position. I think with this depth this year, could find a real good back even in rd 4.

As long as he’s not “slow” and over 4.6 I really don’t think the 40 will impact Tank too much. I don’t think anyone is drafting him thinking they are getting a HR hitter. I think he’s actually fairly comparable to Dameon Pierce last year…both tough, downhill 1 cut runners that can get yards after contact. Pierce ran a 4.59.

Plus there’s guys like Aaron Jones, Nick Chubb, David Montgomery, Rhamondre Stevenson, Javonte Williams, Tyler Allier and more that ran a 4.5+ and had/are having successful career

I kind of wonder what Chubb would run right now. I dont think he was 100% his later career at UG

Tank Bigsby in round 2, Tank Dell in round 3. Put D-law in the backfield for a play at FB and we can run a triple tank option.

If he goes before 58, there for sure will be several others to choose from. The Cowboys will be able to draft a good back with their 3rd round pick.

To me they can't draft Dell because they already have a receiver like him in their punt returner who can be worked into the offense.

I’d be willing to guess any NFL rb with 500+ carries would run at least a few .10’s slower than they college 40 time.

So out of 7 guys you mentioned, 5 went round 3 or later.

And they've all had good careers? That's why RB is so fungible.

I think Tank will be a Montgomery or Pierce type of player, which is why I'd spend a 3rd for him... just like Montgomery and Pierce (top of the 4th). Both of those guys are also middle of the road NFL athletes, if not drifting into the left lane. Per SPARQ, Pierce tested in the 40th percentile of combine RBs, and Montgomery tested in the 36th.

So 3rd or 4th round is just where you start looking for athletically average hard-charger RBs. There's plenty to find there.

Good player. 1 cut and go and physical as heck. Not sure he has the high end speed though to justify him in the 2nd.
See him more as a mid rounder.

I wasn’t going by round drafted, I was going down the rushing leaders list. And you can also add Josh Jacobs to the 4.5+ list. Dalvin cook just barely broke 4.5 with 4.49 (only 9% SPARQ percentile). Jamaal Williams 4.5+. Derrick Henry too (obviously a lot bigger).

I’m simply pointing out that there’s a lot of good RB’s that didn’t run a sub 4.5 40, it’s nowhere near the end all be all for a RB.

And I do think it’s tougher to talk about these picks ahead of time when you’re selecting all the way at the back of the round. Obviously it will depend on who’s left on the board in the 2nd, but a run on RB’s in the 3rd before we pick could leave us choosing from a completely different tier than we wanted to.
But yes, there is also definitely a scenario where we could feel comfortable in the 2nd that enough RB’s are left that we can get someone like Tank or equivalent in the 3rd.

This guy is SO underrated.
criminally underrated, it would seem.

kind of cool article on him. looks like he ran a 4.5 in high-school with a 39 inch vert. i cant see him running any slower than a 4.44 at the combine, and that still wouldnt be an accurate portrayal of his game speed, which seems faster at times.

i am kind of scratching my head as to why hes ranked so low. in some instances hes not even cracking the top 10.

i know his knocks are pass blocking, pass catching (altho many rbs are not asked to do so in college and izzy has shown ability to catch out of the backfield), and patience when the hole isnt there. i did see someone knock his size, but i think hes got good size and breaks tackles/falls forward regularly.

i mean really, its hard to find where hes deficient.

21 TDs too. Guy is fast and explosive, and seems to have good vision. I don't get it.
