This weekend's violation at the paws of the lowly Bears has left me feeling more optimistic than I have in years. I had us pegged as a 8-9 win team, but after last week's reaming we have a chance to be truly awful. We could realistically wind up with a top pick, and with the QBs in the draft we could trade that pick for a king's ransom. Combined with the GB picks and our own, we could draft a BUNCH of talent including a QB with pedigree who at least has a shot to turn into something special.
Yes it's all for naught if Jerry screws it up, which he probably will. And yes the next few years are going to be brutal as Dak drains what's left of the team's lifeblood before returning to his coffin I mean retiring. But with that many picks there's a chance Jerry could luck into some good decisions in spite of himself.

We draft the top QB only for him to be in a system that makes him look horrible!! High draft capital for nothing, better off just trading back a million times and do what we normally do

I don't think we have to tank. The way things are going with injuries, and also the defense, we should plan on a top 5 pick.

Right now I don't see a QB in this draft worth taking that high, but there is a lot more left to the season. I have noticed the tank for Arch talk has stopped. That doesn't mean Jerry wouldn't draft him if he comes out, but based on how he has looked so far I don't think he will be coming out for the 2026 draft. I am not saying we shouldn't take a QB, just not in the top 5 picks - so far.

There are so many positions of need the best strategy this year might be BPA, especially in the top 5.

I would rather go 4-13 than 8-9 at this point. With us already having a couple good draft picks over the next couple years, I think that tanking is the move at this point. I think Jerry is too incompetent to understand though.

It's a little early for me, still holding out hope for that improbable run. One of the hardest things for me to do is to pull the plug on a Cowboys season, but I remain team first, at some point draft positioning will take presedence over winning a couple more games. :flagwave:

:flagwave:It's always about the Cowboys and how they can get better.

I agree the odds for success with Jerry are low. Very low. But it's not zero because he could luck into something with a bunch a premium picks. Until Jerry dies, luck is our only chance.
Yup, Lady Luck is sadly our only hope with Jerry running the show. Grim reality, but here we are. Best-case scenario, we hit on a couple of picks. Worst-case scenario is we limp through the season, win just enough meaningless games to miss out on top draft picks, but not enough to actually contend......you know......the classic Cowboys purgatory under Jerry.

Jerry is way too dense to understand the purpose of a rebuild and even if he did, his ego would never allow him to do it intentionally (selling vets for picks, etc.) He’d say something incredibly dumb like “winners don’t lose on purpose” or “we’re all-in, why would I get rid of players that can help me win a SB this season?”.

But as mentioned by others in this thread, the team will suck whether he likes it or not (6-7 wins max, hopefully less) and maybe he’ll luck into a franchise QB. I hope they go 1-16, I want to watch Jerry sulk and be miserable all season long.

Yes Blaster, the Bears put them paws on the Cowboys so bad we talking about tanking in Week 4 LOL. I all for trading back and, at least, recouping a 3rd round pick because I don't like not picking in a whole round.

I don't know about these QBs, it looks kinda sketchy right now, but they could stockpile picks for '27. I had the Cowboys at 7-10, we'll see.

I'm going to give this team until Halloween week to right the ship or I may be joining team tank too, lol. Regardless my expectations have definitively regressed from borderline playoff hopeful. Missing Ceedee, Booker, and Cooper isn't going to help either.

Dallas should draft a top quarterback that FITS their offensive system.

I want to win, as long as in contention for a playoff spot. Give me a playoff spot, and even if losing, there is not much difference between picking 19 to 22 than 17 or 18. Especially with those extra 1st round picks. If Jerry doesn't blow them on some stupid in season trade.

I can never root for losses, except if out of the playoffs when that pick can be in the top 10.

However I am to the point, as I stated all off season, I do not expect any miracles this year, and had us possibly sneaking in as the 7th seed before the injuries and Micah trade.
I still want to win, but not going to be upset with losses. or try not to. Just compete, stop getting embarrassed.

Everyone unite and put the paper bags on now!
