Tanner made the team

Eric, I can't speak for others, but I don't hate Jerry. I hate narcissism. There is a difference.

Owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Middle Tennessee State undrafted rookie RB Phillip Tanner will make the 53-man roster.
"He's special," said Jones. "His coach says, 'I've never seen a kid like this.' You've never seen anybody who takes every note, that tries every way in the world he can to get better plus he's talented." Jones says the Cowboys may now keep four backs after Tanner rushed for 128 yards on 23 carries (5.6 YPC) in the preseason. If they keep only three, Tashard Choice will be the odd man out.

Owner Jerry Jones hinted Thursday night that K David Buehler (hip) will make the final roster.
Jones wants every kickoff in the end zone, which is Buehler's specialty. What's not certain is whether the Cowboys will also carry Shayne Graham or Dan Bailey as a field-goal specialist. Dave Rayner appears to be out of the running after missing two kicks in the finale.

If he said we're keeping Buehler, then obviously we're carrying two kickers.

What two? There aren't two kickers on this roster worth carrying. Especially when you are carrying 4 running backs and 3 tight ends.

I hate it when I agree with Jerry. :)

I've been calling for this since we allowed a 37-yard kickoff return in the first game. Our kickoff coverage is just not good enough not to keep Buehler.

I don't like keeping two kickers, but if it forces our opponents to start every drive after kickoffs at their 20, then I'm for it. The defense has enough on their plate without having to stop someone on a short field.

and i missed Cajuns thread, i am all sorts of fail tonight

I'd go with Bailey and Buehler, but I think Dallas will go with the vet, Graham.

Bailey, other than during a lull in camp, has been very good. Both of his field goals against Minnesota split the uprights.

I already posted about this.

Didn't jump into that one, so I'm glad rkell posted this thread.

all the 2 kicker talk is misinterpreted. we carry two. One on the PS.

I'd prefer the four running backs and, based on my 53, would go with one less offensive lineman, 9 instead of 10, to make it happen. (I'd like to cut Sam Young, but would probably have to cut Kevin Kowalski because of the backup tackle situation. Actually, I'd probably cut both, put Kowalski on the PS and pick up a vet tackle after the first week if I had my druthers.)

No. Based on tonight's game, do you really want Buehler attempting field goals?

If our defense keeps struggling, we're going to have need all the points we can get.

You are incorrect sir.

Perhaps I am.

Regardless. Two kickers on a roster with an even closer kickoff is moronic.

I disagree. Obviously, one who can handle both would be ideal, but if you've got one who can't make field goals with any regularity and others who can't prevent kickoff returns with any regularity, there's good reason to go with two.

I think Buehler is worth the field position he saves as a KO specialist. IMO, that makes him our most valuable special-teammer. (I bet Joe DeCamillas feels the same way.)

I said back when the kickoff was moved up 5 yards that it could actually help Buehler instead of hurt him because now he's pretty much an automatic touchback. Teams value that.

Hos, don't tell me we are keeping two kickers that the team doesn't have confidence in at the expense of an actual football player!?!
