Tapper has pars defect

Would not surprise me if he's a Pro Bowler some day.

Just to some day be a starter would make him a bit of steal though.
You're right. He led that team of defensive stars in tackles 2 years in a row. Real lunch pail type of guy. Urban Meyer supposedly loved him and his work ethic.

How many players in the league DO NOT have some kind of minor injury they are playing through? With guys like Sean Lee and Ron Leary you know about it but I would say the vast majority of the players do. These threads are silly, Tapper has had this his whole life and played through it. Now that he is close to returning to playing we have people acting like he is in the last days of Stage 4 cancer. Its beyond silly.

The funny thing is that this year the team has left training camp healthier than others, but once these threads become a meme some people act like its law.
Pretty sure if it was found out in 1988 that Irvin had a narrow spine his career was over before it started. That's not a minor injury.

The spinal stenosis was a condition he's always had and he decided to retire. The neck injury he had is how they discovered it. Sterling Sharpe who was drafted the same year as Irvin also found that he had the condition after injuring his neck and retired.

If we didn't go with the best player in the draft getting a DE may have been a way to go.

I don't know what the fuss is. Sounds to me Tapper is preparing himself to play as quickly as possible. I expect to see him in game 2 at the latest.

Highly doubtful a 4th round draft pick is going to make or break our season unless his name is Dak.

So he's had it since childhood, but it was never diagnosed? If it was never diagnosed, how would he know he's had it since childhood?

So we have an injured Romo who may not play until week 8-9.

Tapper and McFadden may not play all season ... Yet, Garrett says the roster is set and they are happy???

All you can do is laugh at this crap.
McFadden is superfluous at this point,

What Tapper, a fourth-round rookie from Oklahoma, was actually feeling was a problem rooted in a fracture in his back, which he says has been diagnosed as a “pars defect.’’ He indicated he’s occasionally experienced discomfort since childhood, but nothing this serious until this summer, when an MRI revealed the true issue.

Ideally, Tapper is now on a path toward healing. But first he needs to practice something he hasn’t done since early August. The Cowboys have suggested he will miss this weekend’s opener against the Giants but could play for the defensive-line-needy Dallas might participate in Week 2.

Tapper should have been placed on NFI. Not only has he missed all of preseason, lost weight, need to regain his game strength/speed but for his own sake he should not rush back. It would be better for him and team if he was physically and mentally prepared to contribute instead of rusing hI'm back because DE position is a disaster.

It's only 6 weeks compared to rest of his career, never mind rest of his life.

Read?

You're expecting this group to actually read something???

Nope. It's much more fun to choose any/all different course of action.
Great point, Michael.

I mean just the other day I read an article with a quote from Garrett that wouldn't rule out Romo for the opener.

Gosh, the things you learn when you take time to read.

I'd guess it's a congenital condition that they just discovered.

Good of those reporters to ask questions about this. Absolutely useless. Not that it changes anything.
Lets see how this FO spins this, and their lack of - anything. And why for Christs sake do we still have 3 spots on the PS open ?
1 for Showers, and ? .....
God, I love, but I hate this organisation at times !

At that point they weren't ruling him out.

Gosh you do you think things may have changed since he made that quote?
