Taylor Mays reminds me too much of Roy Williams.

You may be right about the hips because he is a thick-set athlete, but footwork and ball-playing skills can be easily taught.

So why hasnt he learned it yet? He's been playing on a superior college coaching staff his entire time there. He's also been surrounded by a ton of talent.

He doesnt remind me ANY of Roy Williams, not even remotely. RW made a ton of plays at OU and here in Dallas. Mays never makes any plays. Mays is also nowhere near the hitter Roy was.
I really wish this comparison would stop. It's like Cowboys don't remember RW at OU or his first few years in Dallas.

I don't think they bothered to try to teach him, he was coasting on athletic ability like Tim Tebow was.

If Mays is willing to put the work in, I think he could be an excellent NFL player.

I havent seen anyone questioning his work etic, but I still dont think he has the instincts for the position and firmly believe he'll end up at LB somewhere down the road, just like Thomas Davis did. (Who by the way was a better safety at Georgia than Mays was at USC)

you can't teach instincts and he has none. Yes footwork can be improved and you can teach someone to read the O but that means they have to think rather then feel it like Woody and others did. That always means they will be slow to react. And with stiff hips that is a bad combination.

Better athlete yeah, better football player, no. Not even close.

No doubt. Roy is still one of the better college players I've ever seen. He dominated big games against good teams from the safety position, which is almost unheard of.

Certainly a chance he plays LB, but I think he'll have to flunk out at safety first. So many of you guys don't even want to give a guy a chance to play in the NFL before declaring him a bust. It's crazy to me.

I hope he gets his chance, just not here. He isnt going to be any good IMO and would be a wasted 1st rd pick.

If I'm wrong, you guys can shower me with "told you so's!!!"

Seriously doubt I'm wrong though, the games on TV dont lie.
