Taylor Swift vs. Dallas Cowboys Fuels 'America's Team' Debate originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

FRISCO - Make no mistake, it's good to have Taylor Swift on your side.

And the Kansas City Chiefs have - in so many delightful ways - "weaponized'' her fandom, the result of her romantic relationship with tight end Travis Kelce.

Nevertheless ...

No matter what the internet might claim, "America’s Team'' is still the Dallas Cowboys.

The Kansas City Chiefs are most everything a franchise should aspire to be. They win at the highest level. They’ve built something special with Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid and, of course, the future Hall of Famer Kelce.

And in the last couple of years, they have benefited from the added attention that came with Swift’s involvement.

The dating life ... the presence at games ... it's all a marketing dream for that team and for the NFL.

I saw Taylor in concert a while ago. She performed for three and a half hours straight without ever taking a break. She was moving the entire time.

I think Dallas should sign her. We could use that kind of energy.

send her down the middle wearing a halter top and thong

EVERY WR would be wide open

...but do we need the energy of the Swifties tagging along with her? Think of what a few of them could add to CowboysZone by signing up. If anyone thinks the past 20+ years of quarterback discussions have been combative, watch out! One negative thing said about Swift and *BOOM!* goes the dynamite. :muttley:

Just think IF she were dating a Dallas player... Jerry could add all kinds of merchandise options to include her at the Pro shop!
A marketing bonanza.
Cha-ching!!

Oh well,
The next Micah contract will add to more marketing excitement soon enough.
Stay tuned.

COWBOYS!!

The nfl does drug tests

She’s overrated.
I have nothing against her. Thought she was cute & relatively talented when she first came out.

Having said that, I have no idea how she has become a pop superstar other than her ability to plug into teenage girl emotions.

Odd how it always seems the slightly lesser talented becomes the icon while greater talents never quite connect with the public in quite the same way.

You just described Jerry and the Cowboys for the last 30 years to a T.....

KC Chiefs still constantly comparing themselves with the Cowboys. They are obsessed. Ever since they were chased out of Dallas, they have hated us more so than our own division rivals.

My band wagon friend, thinks he gets one over on me, by saying they were the original pro team in Dallas over the Cowboys. I school him every time. Other people look at him like he belongs in an insane asylum. Which he does. Because of all the other stupid stuff he says.

I got so I do not respond to him, or just tell him to shut up before he loses again. Other than make a fool of himself.

There were actually 2 Dallas Texans teams before the AFL Dallas Texans. The AFL announced this new league, and the teams. The NFL scrambled getting the Dallas Cowboys. We all know the story about getting that final vote fro Washington.

The Cowboys were officially made a NFL team, a few weeks before the Texans and the other 7 original teams were actually signed into the new league. Texans were named only as being a team otherwise.

A reminder, Washington opposed Dallas getting a team. Tex Schramm got the rights to their theme song, as no one had it. Hail to the (commodes old name) was the song. So they could not use it anymore. Tex told them he will trade it for their vote. So the birth of the Cowboys.

Some more history. 1952, the NY Yanks football team, a guy from Dallas brought them here. Called the Dallas Texans. He abandoned them. Clint Murchinson (first own of the Cowboys) tried to buy them to keep them in Dallas. Howard Rosenbloom bought them, and they became the Baltimore Colts.

I think, also. There was another Dallas Texans team, I think in 1958 or 59, that was so bad, and they could not meet the payroll, or something like that, and went defunct.

Even more ironic is that the Chiefs were not the first NFL team in Kansas City. from 1924 to 1926 there was a team called the Kansas City Cowboys.

The last artists “to plug into teenage girl emotions” with a similar degree of success were the Beatles. I couldn’t identify one of her songs from any female singer, but she has built a tremendous organization by surrounding herself with good people. Hers is a well managed enterprise. That a Cowboys fan can’t identify that is understandable.

So we come to this, we are witnessing the death of the NFL. You don’t challenge swifties (her fan names), Cowboys are done.

in 100 years will the sports world still be discussing a stupid video nickname from 1976??
will it ever end??

the stupid name is beyond meaningless
