TD to Kennison?

I guess I missed it, but who was at fault on the Kennison TD? Looked like Davis to me. He sucked up on Gonzales while Newman let Kennsion go. Roy was coming over from his side to cover Gonzales, so that leaves Davis to have the outside deep half.

It was the safety. It looked like a cover 2 zone to me. Newman jammed him off the line, but the safety on that side of the field slid over to Gonzo up the middle.

the zone was horrible yesterday. It seemed any play that had a WR with a crossing pattern, they were open. They would just cut across the field and nobody ever followed them. The defense was confused all day by the constant shifting of KC's O. They didn't know what they were doing.

Right on the money Hustler, you can tell by the way Newman jammed him and played underneath that it was a zone scheme. Even more telling was when TNEW started to give chase and you could see him looking to the interior of the field with a ***! look and looking for whomever blew the assignment.

I thought for some reason it was Henry. I thought it was awfully weird that he was playing the safty spot in the cover 2. I could be wrong because I have not looked at it again but I am almost sure it was Henry.

Actually, you all are wrong. Either Fujita or Shanle (thinking Shanle) were suppose to cover the man in the flat. A KC player broke off in the flat, the LB didn't go to cover and Newman bit up on the guy in the flat. As soon as he bit up, Green went over the top to Kennison.

You could tell it was the LB's fault when he went to cover the KC player across the middle, but broke back to the guy in the flat once he saw him streaking wide open.

That KC O is really complex to defend against(unlike the Gints last week, although they're very good too).

With Larry Johnson pounding the ball and Tony Gonzales creating mis-matches galore, the ENTIRE passing game(and running game to boot) opens up for them in a BIG way.

If Gints fans think we beat some mediocre team on our home field due to fluke plays, they are IN for a SURPRISE.

Simple two deep zone once again with each safety covering the deep halves of the field.

Defensive right side was Davis, and the defensive left side was Roy.

Roy bit on the middle receiver again and didn't cover Kennison over the top. Newman did the right thing by first jamming Kennison then letting him go and releasing him to Roy. Newman covered the short receiver to the flat.

Davis couldn't cover him because he was all the way on the right side. He covered Gonzalez over the top.

Far as I could see it was Roy's responsibility.

I don't know about any of you but I'm so sick of our safeties not being able to execute zone coverage responsibilities properly I could scream!

Newman went right over to Davis to let him know about it.

I hope Newman doesn't start worrying about passing guys off -- that was part of his problem last year, he ended up out of position because he was over covering because his deep help sucked.

You've got it backward. Davis was on the left side, Roy was on the right. When CBS showed the replay, the announcer (I think it was Phil Simms) said Roy covered the post, but it was Davis.

...I am wrong then, but I was certain it was Roy on Newman's side of the field.

What we need is someone to post a picture of the field presnap. It would then show us who was aligned on Kennison's side of the field.

One thing is for certain, it was Newman who jammed him off the line and then released him.

We don't need a picture... It was Davis. Roy was nowhere near the play, he was on the other side.

It was cover 2 Newman has flat.

If the WR released to the outside shoulder of the CB then it's the CB's (Newman) man.

For whatever reason my Tivo didn't record the game some I couldn't see the replay.

That's because Simms said it was Henry when it was clearly Newman.

I don't think it matters much. Tony easily beat his man running deep right up the gut which attracted the saftey thus leaving Kennisen wide open on the right. If the saftey stays at home in which he could defend Kennisen then Gonzo had an easy TD up the middle.
