Anthony McCoy-TE- Player Mar. 11 - 3:19 pm et

USC TE Anthony McCoy is reportedly drawing "strong interest" from the Cowboys, Dolphins, Chiefs, Ravens, Seahawks and Bengals.

Projected to go off the board in the second round, McCoy is notable for his combination of blocking and receiving skills. For fantasy purposes, the Bengals and Chiefs would be best-case scenarios.

Tight End | Southern Cal | SR Anthony McCoy
Height: 6-4½ | Weight: 259 | 40-Time: 4.72

Official Bio

Strengths:
Good height with a large frame and long arms --- Very athletic --- Soft, reliable hands --- Excellent ball skills and body control --- A fine route runner --- Great strength --- Runs hard after the catch --- Shows the ability to stretch the field vertically --- Is extremely tough --- A superb all-around blocker --- Competitive --- A hard worker --- Still has upside.

Weaknesses:
Could stand to add some more weight --- Lacks explosiveness --- Just average speed and quickness --- Isn't elusive --- Not overly physical or powerful --- Wasn't incredibly productive --- Durability may be an issue.

Notes:
Was a two-year starter for the Trojans --- Named Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 in both 2008 and 2009 --- Led all of the nations tight end's in yards per catch average in '09 --- Missed time with hamstring and ankle injuries in college --- USC had so many talented offensive playmakers that he would get lost in the shuffle at times --- Enjoyed a breakout performance and career game against Notre Dame as a senior, hauling in 5 receptions for an astounding 153 yards --- Will attempt to follow in the footsteps of former Trojan tight ends like Dominique Byrd and Fred Davis --- The type who does everything well but nothing great --- A natural talent with solid physical tools and a multifaceted game who could end up being better in the pros than he was in college --- Not particularly flashy but has the ability to compete for an NFL starting job.

i really hope this is a smokescreen. we really don't need or have room for more TEs on this team and you certainly don't spend that high a pick for a PS player that has to make it through waivers and can go onto another 53 man roster at any point. and even if we have a trade lined up for MB or JP, no more early picks for backup TEs please....

We already have one great and one good tight end (Phillips). This doesn't make sense.

maybe they are looking at him for the H-Back role?

We've looked at D Dickerson and G Graham already.

that's what these 3 players have potentially in common, imo.

The meltdown on this board if we took another TE in the 2nd round would be EPIC.

Have to think Jerry seriously considering moving Marty B. His trade value may never be higher.

McCoy is actually a very solid TE. I was never big on him until this year but when he was healthy, USC was a better team. I wouldn't draft him until the 3rd round though.

I think public expressions of being interested in a player before the draft are ALWAYS a smokescreen. If there is any truth to this it pretty much means Bennett is gone.

Agree! Solid route runner from a pro style offense who's tough and actually enjoys blocking. So much of Romo's game is built around trust, and I don't believe he has that in Bennett. I could easily see Dallas trading him for a late 2nd or early 3rd, and spending that exact same pick on his replacement. I know all about Bennett's potential and agree, but some players just don't fit...maybe he doesn't.
