It didn't look good the way he was bent backward on the last play.

Looks like he has an injury settlement in his future.

You hate to see anyone injured but this actually could be a lucky break for him, no pun intended. He has absolutely zero chance of making the roster and was probably behind Blake Jarwin for a Practice Squad spot. With this situation (assuming they want to keep him) they can keep him on IR all year as a season that essentially a Practice Squad year.

All of that assumes he earned a PS spot of course.

That stinks for him. Dream over.
In reality it is probably the best thing for him. He had a good camp but wasn't likely to make the team, maybe not even the PS. Now he will be released and revert to IR where he'll make a little more than a PS player and get to rehab at The Star. Dallas will hold his rights and he can then begin this journey again next year.

Not Hamlett!?! No!!!!

This is the worst news yet!

(Sarcasm disclaimer for those required to wear a helmet at all times.)

You totally intended that pun!

HAMLET.....
To be, or not to be--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep--
No more--and by a sleep to say we end

.......oh, never mind, different Hamlett

I felt bad for him. Gets hurt on one of the last few plays of a meaningless preseason game. Even though he had a broken fibula, he still hopped off on his own trying to save the team a timeout. He was having a decent camp. Probably would have been on the PS with the Cowboys or another team.

That sucks for him, but if there was ever a position where an injury isn't a big deal, TE is it.

and finally it is someone at bottom of depth chart instead of star players

I really hate saying that was my first thought as well. Players are going to get hurt, part of the game, and I certainly prefer that it not be ones we are relying on.

Chances are likely overwhelming that Conner Hamlett wouldn't have made the team. Yet, it's unfortunate for him that he couldn't have remained healthy and possibly latch on with another team. I would expect Blake Jarwin to have a much better shot of remaining a Cowboy, even if it's only to be on the practice squad. It's a tough deal for Hamlett but that's pro football for you. An injury settlement should offer him some comfort, though.

No offense to Connor, but if I had to pick a guy on the roster......
