TE Opinions?

Ruckert is my guy, and has been for a while. He can do a little bit of everything, and was somewhat underutilized as a receiver at OSU, so I think that there is growth potential there.

I am very intrigued by Jelani Woods. His size and ability to block are appealing, and his testing results may show some untapped receiving potential.

Everybody knows my love for Jelani Woods. I think he could be a difference-maker in both the passing and running games.

I like Wydermeyer, because I have seen him do it all. He doesn't block all the time well, but when motivated he does it well. He also can run all the routes and can make big plays.
I like McBride, he seems to have it.
My actual usual pick is Ruckert --- this is my favorite pick right now. Blocks and catches......would be a big help in the run game, and be a good "check down charlie", like Schultz, but with blocking ability.
I am intrigued by Jelani Woods, but admit that I didn't watch any Virginia games, so I have seen nothing but the highlight stuff, and I think that is useless. He might be able to be a difference maker.
I am also intrigued by Ferguson out of Wisconsin.........he might be able to be a legit TE as well.

Kolar doesn't block well enough for me. Likely seems like he is strictly a #4 WR and not really a TE. I think Dallas has a better version of him in Vasher and Brown.

So there is 5 guys, and I hope Dallas drafts one of them.........and actually figures out their strength and then utilizes it.

Cade Otton
6-5, 250
Decent blocker, decent receiver.

Projected to the 3rd round.

Not sure that I see the top 2 in this draft as significantly better than Otton.
Otton checks the boxes for me. I think a more rounded version of Shultz. Steady dude that might not be a threat past 15 yards, but consistent inside of that.

McBride is definitely the better receiving TE, he is more a move TE type and I dont know if we are going to be looking at that. He might be a 1st rounder too

Are you wanting to move on from Shultz? Since they liked him enough to put the tag on him, I doubt they are going to draft a TE early.

In terms of managing the cap, yes, I’m not wanting to dedicate significant money to Schultz on a multi-year deal when I think we can find his future replacement somewhere in the mid rounds of the draft.

Teams routinely draft a player to replace a player that they Franchise Tagged.

The Tag is often just a stopgap because it is only a 1 year contract.
