Lions to Cut Mike Williams in the Offseason --
Wed Nov 15, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

Mlive reports Detroit Lions WR Mike Williams continues to ride the bench because he continues to irritate coaches with his weight, attitude and practice habits. The Lions can cut Williams after the Super Bowl and designate him as a June 1 cut (and spread his cap hit over the next two seasons). That appears to be the Lions likely course of action at this time.

I doubt he could play TE for us but I could easily see him being turned into a TE at some point.

I think we are looking pretty good at TE with Witten signing an extention and Fasano. We're even solid enough at WR to even think about Williams.

why would someone who won't work hard for millions suddenly now work hard for a lot less just because he's a cowboy now?

I still can't believe how he has become a bust of epic proportions. I really thought that he was going to be an absolute BEAST in the pros.

BP's TEs have to be able to block to some degree. Attitude wise, I don't think he would be thrilled with bringing in that guy with TO already here.

Yeah, except for the fact that Jay Novacek was a great teammate, hard worker and was dedicated to doing everything possible to help his team win. Whereas, Mike Williams is just a bum. Oh yeah, and Mike can't run routes or catch like Jay.

So uhh.... what exactly is the similarity between the two? That they are both males?

Novacek was a Plan B free agent. Can't recall the exact details of that classification but the Cards didn't really want to let him go.
No comparison to Williams.

A TE in this Offense has to be Physical at line of scrimmage in this offense.. This includes lead blocking, shedding DE jams, and blocking downfield.

Non of which Im sure he can do as a WR , let alone an Undersized TE. Would be a beast in Goaline situations, but unfortunately when a converted saftey (Mike Furey) beats you out.. You must have serious issues. Talent offsets alot of character flaws, but in his case.. he obviously lacks it.

6'5 with Low 4. 6 speed would be a hell of a tightend.. Too bad hes a WR that wants to catch TD's not lead block...
