When you watch teams that have strong running games they all have good TE’s on the edge. It’s such an underrated position in the run game. I have watched Schultz miss his block so many times. And, sprinkle and Mckean are not NFL players. It’s a big weakness on our team. A bigger, stronger TE would also help Dak. He lacks a security blanket underneath. I can’t tell you how many times I see Lamb, Cooper, Gallup 20-25 yards downfield and there’s no outlet. We need a true game wrecker at TE.

If you're gonna have an Everydown TE Scheme you gotta have a stud at the position.

Were Using Schultz and Zeke on 3rd and 20 when it should be Wilson and Pollard.

We gotta play the best skillsets for the down and distance not the players.

We have 5 Awesome wrs and it's 3rd and 20. Ya would think we'd have Cooper, Lamb, Gallop, Wilson, and Brown spread out 5 wide w some speed

Nope. Just the vanilla predictive 11 and 12 personell groups as always

I actually think McKeon can provide at minimum what Schultz provides. That said, yes, I would be all for bringing in a quality TE via the draft.

I agree with this take for the most part but I would actually approach the problem from a different angle. Schultz is a plodder and offer little in terms of YAC in the way Kelce, Kittle, or even Jarwin is. He’ll make the occasional “tough guy” run for extra yards but he’s not a real threat. If we’re going to be reliant on the TE then we need better talent there; someone that can be featured as threat.

Schultz ain’t that guy.

McKeon is slow as an O-Linemen.

Schultz is one of our best receivers. The problem is hes the worst blocker ive ever seen in the NFL at TE.

I would draft a great blocking TE in the 3rd or 4th (Ferguson from Wisconsin) and still keep Schultz as a receiver.

May be true but if McKeon is slow what is Schultz?

Schultz is an absolute plodder.

I’m all for taking a TE this year to replace Schultz but I wouldn’t take one in the 1st or 2nd round.

You can get a mid rounder that can develop into a quality starter. No one remotely close to Pitts in this class.

I agreeeeee. Hes a decent te. He just has limited skillsets.

He's just a 5th option on every passing play.

But he Plays every Passing Snapcount like he's a FIRST OPTION.

I can't believe he's out there on every Critical passing down considering we have better wrs and rbs who have more big play and scoring capabilities

No different than old man Witten.

I swear if we had 4 Jerry Rices we'd still have a scrub te out there on 3rd and 27 Lined up wide with the Game on the Line!!

Our checkdown Tes have 1 playoff Td in 20 years. And we still LOST THE GAME!!!
LMAO

The scheme shouldnt override the Skillset for the down and distance. We saw what Witten Escobar, Hanna, and the rest of this te core couldn't do at the playoff level. A bunch of 3 yard passes on 3rd and 10

Y'all know it's TRUE!!!!

I used to laugh incredulously when we would run TE screens with Witten. I used to joke all the time that the Cowboys thought Witten was some artist in the open field.

How many times did we get eliminated on some rinky dink pass to Witten that was way short of the marker?

How could anybody forget?

I love Schultz and also think we're gonna lose him, but not sure how much production we'll actually lose with Jarwin becoming the number one option and giving McKeon a shot to be the number 2. I'd be up for take a chance on a guy in the mid-rounds, maybe Ruckert from OSU.

I think if the team doesn't want to pay what Schultz could get they'll rock the Jarwin/McKeon duo with another rookie TE taken in the mid rounds.

Very few rookie TEs come in and dominate right away. Outside of Pitts, a majority of top taken TEs take at least a year before you get quality results.

Disagree.

Schultz is good and it takes a TE years to develop. You don’t get a quick return on investment.

Offensive line is our top priority imo.
