I don't know much about this story but I will tell you this. If you get a 20% on any test in the 6th grade, then you probably have a real problem. I don't know that the teacher needs to point it out in such a fashion but clearly, this child is not doing what is needed to get the grade.

I think it's a symptom of something much larger in our society. We just don't fail kids and I think it shows in the class room. Behavior, educational results, all of it. I think the teachers are tired and they are near the end of their ropes.

This teacher probably needs to find another vocation. I think he's probably had it.

I got a negative 7 once. I am not joking

On a related note, in high school, I had a typing teacher who deducted five points for every typo, regardless of its severity. Consequently, on a two or three page assignment, it was possible to earn a mark well into the negative numbers.

Students actually received negative grades on their reports cards. Do you realize how absurd that is? These students would have been better off skipping class everyday because, in that case, the worst possible grade they could earn would have been zero.

The teacher, who also served as cheerleading coach, was absolutely vacuous.

I remember when I started Catholic School in sixth grade. My first test was in science and I got a 28.

I started another Catholic school in 9th grade and my first test grade was an 18.

No one called me a loser and I worked my *** off and made the honor roll.

I was already very discouraged. If the teacher had called me a loser I wouldn't have done it.

Well, at least she didn't sleep with the kid, which is more than I can say for some teachers.

Supposedly there are parents who will vouch for this guy and his teaching methods.

You get knocked down 2 grades because you are a loser.

Pretty ****ed up.

I could understand if the child wore a green Eagles Jersey all the time.

But no parent other than the wack pack in the Lehigh Valley does that.

Without any of us actually knowing this teacher, it sounds like this guy was trying be cool by inappropriately using kids lingo....pretty dumb and surely deserving of a reprimand.

We don't know if this guy had a temporary brain toot or if he is actually a bad teacher with poor form. For all we know he's one of the best teachers in the school who just happened to badly miscalcualte how to handle a very underachieving student.

I couldn't stand my 10th grade science teacher. He got me up in front of class one day and wanted me to prove the law of gravity. I told him it's simple things tend to fall downward. To prove my point I opened up a window and threw him out a two story building. :D Luckily he landed in a bush and only suffered a bruised kidney a few bumps and bruises. :p:

That is completely believable.

20% on a paper?

LOL....

To quote Canibus...

[/I]

It was -20%

So, at most the "loser" makes that person's grade an 80%.

Yep, me three!! lol

At around 15-16 years old, my teacher told me to go into the hallway during class and wait there. So I waited for 15 minutes in the hall. The class ended.

He came out and told me that I would never amount to anything and that I was a loser.

He didn't even phase me, not in the least. I told him, oh yeah, I will be making more than you when I start working.

10 years later I started my own small internet tech company. My first 2 clients netted me more than he made in his best year.

No one can tell you what you are. Its all on you.

It's ****ed up and sounds like the Teacher needs to find work elsewhere.

However if my kid came home and complained about such a thing I'd tell them to grow a ****ing pair and stop being a little *****.. Only I'd put it in a more reasonable way, without the swearing.
