So a common belief is during the 2018 offseason the Banana Boat Super Friends ( to the uninitiated, Lebron James, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, and Carmelo) will take over one lucky or unlucky NBA franchise. Lebron can opt out, Paul can opt out, Wade can opt out, Carmelo will most likey be bought out, giving them the chance to form potential the most incompatible NBA in history

Do you think Team Banana Boat Super Friends will actually happen?

If it does, where will they play?

Will they be a legit contender, or a giant **** show?

Should they just buy a ******* van and drive around solving mysteries?

There is a small chance it will happen, but I don't think it's likely. I can see Wade following James somewhere though, rather easily.

I don't think that team would win it all though.

I don't think Paul joins, but I do think Melo and Wade end up in Cleveland this season. I think Melo *could* happen before the season starts, kinda depends on a few factors. I think Cleveland is willing to deal Melo for Love, but I think NY wants to involve a third team to get a young player or some lotto protected pick for him. I think Wade will get bought out at some point before the trade deadline.

To happen I think you would have to find a very desperate franchise with tons of space. And even then, all of them would have to leave significant money on the table.

On the court, I just can't see that as a very coherent team. And Wade and Melo really starting to decline

Couple of things
-It probably only happens in Cleveland, Lebron has said he's taking the max from here on out, and given that he has won 3 championships and won one in Cleveland, there is little reason for him to take less, so no team would be able to sign all 4 as free agents without having someone's Bird Rights.
-With that being said, I don't see how Paul joins in, since they have Kyrie Irving. It's not like any team would deal Irving for Paul given the age difference, so I don't think all 4 end up on one team.
-Dwayne Wade is declining, and while Melo is not in his prime, he still has a lot left. 22ppg, 6rpg and 3apg aren't numbers that average players put up. He has very little value among fans, and his contract is a killer considering his age and the fact that he isn't a two way player, but he isn't really close to being done.
-JMO, but I think they would be a lot more coherent than you think. Carmelo is very capable of playing off the ball, as a catch and shoot player, and his best season defensively, at least in NY, was when he was a stretch 4. Dwayne Wade would probably be the one to make the biggest adjustment, and likely would be best coming off the bench with Korver starting at the 2, so he can lead the second unit.

If you are talking Lebron with Melo and Wade, I agree it would be at least fairly coherent. If you you add Paul to the mix however, then you would some issues. Im not sure how well Paul will play off the ball. Kyrie is a much better pairing for James

Yea I don't see Paul as realistic, so just those three.

At this point only really Paul and James are still going strong
Wade isn't close to the same player he once was, and Melo while still puts up the points isn't the same Melo of old. IMO

While LBJ still is a top player in the league, I can't see too many teams trying to go after Wade or Melo unless they take a good paycut.

I mean LBJ bailed on Wade when it was obvious that Wade was slowing down and that was before Bosh was diagnosed with the blood clot issue.

Bron and Paul are still playing at a high level. Wade is a shell. And Melo would be a good 6th man if his ego allowed it. A few years from now it'll be an older Bron having to carry a group of has beens.

A current/younger Bron with Irving, Love, Korver, Thompson etc is probably much better than this dream team.

Sure it could happen. DWade and Melo would have to play for peanuts tho and those guys are on last legs for making huge dollars.
CP3 and LeBron could play together but BOTH would have to take pay cuts giving up their super-max deals.

Obviously you need someone with space to take on these deals.
HOU can't add LeBron while keeping CP3 and Harden.
CLE would have to trade off ballast for CP3 that HOU doesn't want.

So you look at bottom feeder teams with no cap commits and ask yourself where a LeBron/CP3 led team fall if they do sign together.
Answer IMHO is not anywhere near where CLE was last year.

I still think Melo ends up in CLE this year. He's just gotta bite the bullet and take less money to get the buy out. DWade could get there too.
And then question becomes does LeBron stay if those buddies are in CLE?
