  1. I think some of us need to stop trying to find easy targets like Jerrah and Stephen and Garrett.

At some point you have to hold the players accountable.

Some fans like to single out individual failures like Jaylon Smith or Zeke or Dak.

And at times they are clearly responsible for their own failures and should be criticized.

    2. It's a team game and team chemistry is probably the one main ingredient a team must have to succeed.

This has to come from the players themselves.. Having team chemistry means there is accountability one to another. Internally players communicate the expectations to each other.

Teams that have team chemistry can adjust to new coaches and new schemes and still maintain an identity that is the fabric of the team.

Which brings me to our current team. It's obvious the offense has a team identity. Even with the changes in coaches and moving to a WCO look. Even as they move away from total dependence on Zeke to run the ball as before to control TOP and protect the defense.

But the defense? It never was considered our strength. They at best were tasked with forcing a FG or a punt to get the ball back for the offense to run time off the clock. They were a bend don't break concept.

Now the defense has changed DC for the umpteenth time and they have brought in a lot of new faces. They have yet to establish an identity like the offense.

Given the injuries on defense it may not be able to find it. It's painful as the defense leaks yardage and points as fast as we can post them.

So it's up to the players to find their identity and play up to potential. The new fan past time is to use anything to bash the defense and heap anger on the defense and McCarthy as HC.

Look at what is being said about X Woods. He speaks honestly about a reality about player effort and he gets crucified and people want him cut.

That's ridiculous. When have we ever heard from Woods before this? Never. Is what he said that dramatic? Hardly.

Surely as casual fans we have seen players not give what we think is the effort they might have had made. It happens. It isn't our preference but in a way Woods is trying to help with his comments.

    Not point fingers.

The bottom line is the defense has to find its leadership internally like the offense has. They have to stop blowing their assignments under the schemes and play the defense Nolan wants played.

If they do and place the responsibility on each other to get in line and play it will improve and many of them will still have jobs in 2021.

It's that old saying of "Together we stand divided we fall".

Can this team save itself from failing?

Yes but it has to come from the players themselves.

We are all still waiting to see when the lightbulb goes off.

It needs to start Sunday against these Giants. If they defeat us with Garrett calling a good game against us..

    Well..you know the rest.

Agreed. Well said, Redball.

If the defense blows this game against the Giants.
Here is what the fans need to do. When the offense is on the field, be their normal selves. When the defense is on the field, go the paper bag over the head route.

I fail to see how the GM-for-life and his son the VP-for-life are easy targets. They signed the players, they hired the coaches - they own this mess. It's on them.

Oh they have blame..

not saying otherwise.

Just saying the players as a whole are needing to take responsibility about their play.

Team chemistry is a fickle thing. In 2016 we had it. That team with the arrival of Dak and Zeke showed chemistry we had never seen since those early 90s teams.

I thought like many other fans we had cleared a hurdle. That going forward we would not go back to the old ways.

But 2017 was a complete reversal of everything I had hoped not to see. 2018 saw us go 3-5 before we traded for Cooper and got team chemistry going again.

Then 2019 and out of the playoffs and a complete house clean.

So clearly team chemistry has to be there and it's up to the players we sign pay and play who ultimately have to make it work.

Ours consistently do not.

It's just a fact.

As a very longtime fan..the Dallas Cowboys lived off their past accomplishments more than any team in any sport.

It has become the basis for what we are seeing. Each year some changes are made made but no matter what..

nothing changes.

The blame?

We all have our pet reasons.
