Team Controversy 101

It is real simple guys. This is how today's NFL works:

Star Player + (Speaking His Mind + Doing something illegal) = Team Controversy

Feel free to add the following to the equation and see if it plays out:

T.O. = Yes
L.T. = Yes
Ocho Cinco = Yes
Plaxico Burress = Yes
Marvin Harrison = Yes
PacMan = Yes
Boldin = Yes (even him)

It doesn't matter how good Star Player is or what Star Player does in the community. The media feeds on negative information because WE feed on hearing it. WE LOVE CONTROVERSY so we feed the machine.

So, the next time we complain about Ed Weiner, or Chris Buttman, or whatever media personality we hate, just remember that we are their target market and we're getting what we want.

He opened his big fat yapper and criticized Garrett's scheme. And I'm sure he's gone over the speed limit so he's a criminal!

I have a degree in English, so my math isn't much. But Star Player + (Speaking His Mind (AND) Doing something illegal) = Team Controversy. Doesn't the (+) symbol = "and" such as Romo and big games = loss?

Actually, doing something illegal doesn't equate to team controvery. Marshawn Lynch and Brandon Marshall have allegedly committed crimes. But their lockerrooms are factured.

I agree totally.

I've said this for years.

Watch television...and the garbage that's on. Watch what is reported in the news...etc and realize, the ONLY reason they report it is because it sells.

If people flocked to their televsions every time a program about the migration pattern of penguins was on, that's all you'd find on your TV set.

Negativity sells.

I think that part of the reason the economy is in the tank is because that's all we're bombarded with day in, day out...psychologically, it's awful...and that's a huge part of the situation....but people are drawn to it.

Ya know, it's no different than people slowing down to look at an accident and backing up traffic for MILES while rubber necking an accident that isn't even on their side of the highway.
