Team Discipline in the NFL

I'm listening to Commanders talk radio and they are talking about "Striped Sock Gate". Said Joe Gibbs is not the disciplinarian that he is made out to be because he let the guys get away with that. It never should have been allowed. They said it started last year. If you're suppose to be a guy who don't take no stuff, there is no way this would happen. He let the team vote on stripey sockss and different color shoes last year. The NFL has uniform rules. For the coach to let the team vote on what to wear is a lack of control.

Individuality is nothing new. These kids today didn't invent this. Guys on teams have always been individuals. Its always about the team. You can be an individual but when its time for the team to work towards a goal, then it becomes about singularity (paraphrasing). Athletic ability should never come before team. If a coach let's one or two players get away with something, they become bigger than the team.

Parcells would never have a problem with this type of stuff. He would nip it in the bud immediately.

Good stuff.

Clinton Portis wearing his get-ups doing the week don't make him play football better. This is the trait of a team with no discipline.

Why the f*** are these stupid socks that the Commanders are wearing becoming the main topic around here...it's stupid yes i agree. But for crying out loud Gibbs probably doesn't have as big as a problem with it as you do.

First of all, there is no need to curse.

Second of all, the topic is about discipline. It's not about socks.

I thought the conversation was intereting and relevant. It takes an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without fully accepting it. (Which apparently you can't do.) The overwhelming theme is one player is never bigger than the team ... something that TO became if you have kept up with the latest TO headlines. Everyone is not so narrow-minded ....
