Team identity

With the destruction of the Online last season. The team has loss the strength of any offense. We will be another two years building the Oline. Which means Romo will be that much older. My point is do not sign him to a new contract. Draft a rookie and move on. This team will not win this year or next year. We have no identity. But Jerry will keep trying to sell this product to the fans.

I hate to say it, but I'm leaning towards not wanting to bring Tony back. I never thought I'd say that because I'm probably his biggest supporter and defender on this board. It doesn't have as much to do with him as it does the team. I just don't think this team has what it takes to win it all right now.

We lack talent in certain areas. Most notably the offensive line. These guys can't block for Romo, he's constantly running for his life which leads to forced throws and turnovers. They can't block for Murray either. He has nowhere to go. He's constantly getting tackled in the backfield. It's a miracle he's even able to get any yards.

The way I look at it is why invest so much money and years in a guy when you know odds are you're not gonna win a Super Bowl? Just start the rebuilding process already. Let him go somewhere he can win a championship before he retires. Draft a quarterback and just start over.

Again it pains me to say all that, but that might be what has to be done. I just don't see this team winning a Super Bowl in the near future. All the optimism I had is now gone. It sucks, but I'm afraid I'll never witness the Cowboys win a Super Bowl. :(

Yes you are right, let's bring in a rookie QB. That will solve a lot. Should help our Defense improve the pass Rush as well.

we are not the only team in the league with a bad oline.

we are the only team in the league that doesn't know how to fix a bad oline.

until jerry has an epiphany and gives up the gm title or we have a coach who is good enough to overcome the deficiencies in the front office, then we will continue to be a flawed team.

Awesome....

Hope it stays that way as well, if the team starts winning.

Please don't shout confidence if the team is doing good.

Why are you getting mad at me? Get mad at the team for consistently going out there and embarrassing themselves. I just don't see it turning around. Too many issues.

Offensive line is horrible in the pass game and the run game. The recievers are inconsistent and clueless when it comes to running routes. Our offense cannot score at all. The most points we've scored since the Giants game is 18. That is pathetic.

The defense is improved, but how much improved? The secondary is good, but we still cannot get pressure on the quarterback consistently. If you can't do that it doesn't matter who is in the secondary you're gonna struggle.

Mad? I'm not....

I'm simply agreeing with you. I also hope you stand firm that you have given up hope on the season, or super bowl.

So with that said, I hope you follow through with what you said. Don't gain confidence if we do start to end up winning this season, and everything is looking bright.

It's 1 thing to start to doubt the team, but still hope for the best. It's another to just flat out give up.

Not saying we will make the SB, but i believe anything can happen. I still think there is a small window we can turn things around.

I'm not gonna lie I have given up all hope that this team can win it all this year. I just don't see how it can happen this year. There's just too many issues with this team for me to envision them winning a championship. I really hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it.

This team hasn't given us any reason lately to keep being optimistic but as a fan, I'm hopeful that our oline will improve at least somewhat. What the line hasn't had was time to play together, and even when they did, injuries occurred to disrupt their continuity. We thrust Ryan Cook into the starting center position when he was meant to be a solid backup. I'm hoping that with time, these guys will be better and time is what we have now with the bye.

With the line better, the offense should be better, and perhaps team confidence will increase on all sides of the ball. But I'm still a realist and I'm cautious in my optimism. All we can do now is hope.

Lets see Tony is 32, Ware is 30 or 31, Witten 30. This team has wasted the prime of all of these players, its so darn sad. At this point, I have no hope that this core group of guys will do anything but disappoint everyone. Hopefully in 5 years most of this roster is gone and they can start over.

It seem's as though you are hinting towards a moral standard where it is wrong to change your mind. If that is your standard, by all means, stick with it.

But the only constant within the human condition is change, which leads me to ask, what planet you are from and do you think the Cowboys are a physical football team?

This is the truth and all that needs to be said. For some though, Jerry will make some moves and get their hopes up again next year but not me. Until Jerry is gone or he makes a big name hire and lets him coach, we will hover around 8-8 for years to come.

Agreed.

I've said it to many who've claimed we can never win with Jerry. I think we can. We just can't win because of Jerry and that's a tremendous handicap this franchise deals with. Win despite of your GM. We're fighting with one arm tied behind our back.

Why are we forced to deal with this? Because one lunatic craves attention and credit and has no respect whatsoever for the franchise and what it once stood for.

The OL can be fixed in one offseason with a couple of solid free agent signings and the draft. If Smith doesn't come around at LT the Cowboys need draft one or sign one in free agency and move Smith back to RT. Free needs to be replaced in the starting lineup.

Jerry once said that he really doesnt truly own the Dallas Cowboys. In his mind, he was just borrowing them or just carrying the torch or something to that effect. In reality, the reverse is true. The Dallas Cowboys is Jerry's business. Obviously, he runs it as such. His dad taught him that people wanted entertainment, a show and it needed to be big. Well, there is none bigger than Cowboys Stadium. Somewhere along the way, football became secondary to Jerry (yes, I use to believe winning championships is what fueled Jerry, naive). Dallas Cowboys the business, trumped Dallas Cowboys the football team. If he actually cared about THE Dallas Cowboys, he would bring in a GM to handle football matters. We all know that will never happen.

Jerry's vision of success for the Dallas Cowboys is not ours. When we see this team, we see THE Dallas Cowboys, a once proud football organization. When Jerry sees it, he sees it as his business empire- flourishing, prosperous, bigger than life. Hey look at what I did! Jerry will never look at the team the way we do. Never.

Excellent post.
