So, with all of the watering down of the NFL regarding contact, including limiting it during training camp, what's with all of the injuries? The Boys have had their All-Pro Center, Travis Frederick, go down with an illness unrelated to football. However, they also have injuries to rookie LG Connor Williams, All-Pro RG Zack Martin, as well as starters Chidobe Awuzie, Sean Lee, & Randy Gregory. Taco Charlton, David Irving, Tavon Austin, Deonte Thompson, & Geoff Swaim are also out. Some others are playing hurt.
I live in NE Ohio, & it seems like half of the starters on the Browns are on the MASH unit. I'm old school who has been a fan since 1965, & I just don't get it. Back then, you could clothes-line, head slap, chop block, & blow up receivers long after the ball stopped rolling, & I don't remember as large a percent of players being out as there are now. Seems to me, all they've done is wussyfy the league, making it far less entertaining, without any credible results. I don't want most of that dirty play back, but it would be nice to watch a game without a yellow flag stopping play every two minutes because the DB didn't hit the receiver in the right place at the right time.
