Team Needs

How do you guys feel about pass rush v pass coverage? I feel like that's ground that hasn't been sufficiently covered in here.

I interrupt the 134,534th session of the Great Ongoing Pass Rush v Pass Coverage Debate to point out that there seems to be consensus that our DL stinks and needs significant help.

I feel like a very good secondary can cover for 4 seconds and after that, you are asking to get beat. All the rules are geared against the secondary in the NFL. Specifically, in our scheme, you have to be able to get pressure and you have to be able to do it with 4 guys primarily. It's such a huge advantage to be able to get pressure with just your base DL in the NFL. It's also an added advantage to be able to play strong against the run and that starts up front. IMO, it's DL, especially for us.

And that has a lot more validity than "you can never have enough cornerbacks".

A deep rotational DL won us championships when we had Larry Brown and Kevin Smith starting at CB for us. Our third CB in those days consisted of Ike Holt in '92 and Kenny Gant in '93. The Giants have won multiple Super Bowls in recent years with hardly an all-star corner group.

Save your breath they'll never understand .

Good post.
The D line is dreadful. Bass & Crawford are unknowns.
The online needs upgrading (sorry Free lovers)
We need to upgrade talent everywhere, with WR being the most stable corps.

I look for 5-6 new starters from the draft and free agency.

It really comes down, in many situations, to where you want to invest your cap. This is why scheme is so important. All of these guys, at some point, will come off their rookie contracts and then, you are going to have to invest. It's extremely important to understand what the focus of your scheme supports so that you can incorporate that into your draft plans.

That's huge IMO.
