Per Garrett's radio piece on 105.3 a few minutes ago...

  • Team is off today and tomorrow
  • Return on Wednesday for film review, lifting and running
  • Thursday and Friday will be practice days
  • Saturday and Sunday are days off
Garrett said he will tune into the wild card games and watch. Said there is a lot to be learned from TV version of the game versus the coaches film.

Not to turn this into a Cabo thread, but how does this schedule differ from 2007 just out of curiosity? Does anyone remember?

They can't do a lot of film study on any certain team until Monday. But they can at least get some preliminary film together and looked at on Seattle, as they already faced NY, GB, Detroit. But still, they can look at film since they played them.
However since Seattle is 3rd seed, so I don't think they would play us in the divisional round. So we will one of the other 3. Hoping Detroit beats Seattle so we will get Detroit.

I thought we play the winner of GB NYG

We play the lowest seed of NY, GB, Detroit....depending on who wins.
If Detroit wins, they are #6, we play them. If Seattle wins, then they play Atlanta, and we play the winner of NY / GB

True, but Detroit won't beat the Seahawks unless there are some bizarre injuries or turnovers. Too loud and rowdy in their stadium and the Lions haven't won an outdoor game all season.

Unless Dak starts this I think we're safe

It's up to the players to not make this a Cabo thing. This is not any disrespect to young Romo/Witten but Garrett can not be their babysitter and I believe the CBA has some restrictions on practices.

Right, as the team can't lock them up for 2 weeks to study film, or keep them from relaxing for a few days.

We should have an almost completely healthy team in 2 weeks. After the 1st quarter, I expect us to steamroll whoever we play. I expect Zeke to get 25+ touches and for us to ring up 30+ points even if its the Giants. I don't expect us to lose. I expect a 10+ point win. No one scares me.

I want to see Jerry World as raucous and rowdy as its ever been...

As far as 2007 vs 2016-- we are entering the playoffs completely different. In 07 TO was ailing with a high ankle sprain and Terry Glenn was a shell of himself. Our play in general was declining throughout Dec and we kinda limped into the postseason and were caught by the hottest team in the NFL. Even then it required a number of serious self inflicted miscues and horrendous officiating to give NY the upset.

This year-- our D is actually progressively playing better and better and our last "real" game was an offensive masterpiece. Dak and Zeke have the heart and soul of this team loose, hungry, and confident.

We are not invincible-- but this season has a sense of magic and destiny to it. I think we draw a depleted and exhausted GB team in the divisional round and win by 10 and then we host a barn-burner with Atlanta in the NFCC and hold em off to advance to the SB to face Brady and the Pats...

THAT game will be amazing and would too close to call. One for the ages and could be a "passing of the torch" from Brady to Dak should the rookie pull off the upset.

Going to be a fun and thrilling ride and IMO-- we have been playing with house money all season long. I thought we were looking at 9-7 or worse when Tony went down. This has been the best season in 2 decades and I am so excited about the future for this franchise!

Agreed. I got the sense that the team took the entire bye week off in 2007. Meaning no practice time or film review. It is interesting how Garrett has this structured to where leaving the country on a short vacation is basically impossible.

Something tells me Dak isn't going away on vacation until the season is actually over. Very very focused player.

And.........I don't care who we play. Just stay focused and the best team will win (that would be us).

;)

We lost to the Giants because we played conservative and Crayton stopped running on a sure td. Not because the Cabo trip.
Every win or loss for teams involves several things players or coaches do or don't do during the course of a game. Here's one of my observations about that particular loss from nearly eight years ago:

http://cowboyszone.com/threads/tony-romos-mental-state.144793/page-4#post-2602704

Let's not forget how Eli Manning keyed on Jacques Reeves for a crucial 42-second drive just before the end of the first half. Subtract four of those plays which Reeves couldn't either defend or tackle during that drive and the Giants may have ended up with a field goal at best instead of scoring a touchdown.
Edit: The loss had nothing to do with Cabo like you say and everything to do with what the team didn't do against the Giants.
