Team Seems So Much More Enthusiastic With Romo Instead Of Bledsoe

Beast rewatched the game for the 3rd time and the team just seems so much more energized with Romo in the lineup. Even when there is a bad play like a sack or an incompletion, the team still seems upbeat and kinda like "well get that one back, no biggie".

Even the fans seem more jubilant, the stadium has been LOUD since Romo has been starting. Before, it was like a freaking funeral going on.

Was Bledsoe slowly sucking the life out of the team and the fans???

This game exemplified, in a nutshell, what I like about Romo.

He misfired on two potential huge gainers, both to T.O. One was the one he underthrew down the sideline, and the other one was where he threw it high in traffic. Both "could" have been caught but were undoubtedly off-target throws.

With Bledsoe, the team doesn't recover from those miscues. They're drive killers with him, forcing us to settle for a field goal.

With Romo, they still become touchdown drives.

Whenever he makes a (rare) poor throw, he seemingly always atones for it a few plays later. I love that.

Bledsoe is NOT missed and for the first time in YEARS, I can watch Cowboy games knowing we're TRULY playing for something other than a draft position.

We were NEVER going anywhere with Bledsoe. Right Winky?!

This sums up alot.

It sums up difference between the 2 QB's.

It epitomizes Romo and his play. Nothing is dead, nothing is over until we score.(its exaggerated but you get my point) :D

It's like playing basketball with a PG who can push the ball and always looking for his teammates. You're always going to run because you know sooner or later, that player will hit you with a nice pass leading to an easy bucket.

This thread gets the captain obvious award! :laugh2: Just kidding and you're so right. Romo is a triple shot in the arm for the team, coaches and fans.

The thing Brady and Romo have in common, is a certain leadership quality that Bledsoe never had. Bledsoe looked lost in the huddle, and when he dropped back he seemed to feel non-existant pressure forcing him to throw passes directly to the other team.

Yep, I swear Parcells looks 10 years younger and has been energized by Romo's play. I believe this is how he envisioned the Cowboys playing and he must have been besides himself not being able to get the quality of play out of them that he believed most were able to play at.

I do wonder when Parcells /realized/accepted that Bledsoe was the main problem (we've still got flaws on the OL & FS and sure concerned about Vanderjagt) and when he knew he must make a change. I have read/heard somewhere that he told Romo before the Giants' game to be prepared because he made go to him.

BTW: In Bledsoe's defense, he played pretty well for us last year. When/if the OL could give him protection, he made some good plays. I swear there were even times (game against KC) where he moved around well in the pocket. I was really surprised/pleased with his play in seasoner opener in 05 with his play against the Chargers and some other games as well. But I wasn't happy with Bledsoe's play in this year's seasoner opener against the Jax & I don't believe the OL was at fault. He was okay but not great against Skins and Titans and then in Philly another bad game but this time even I could see him missing our wide open receivers on several occasions and pressure on him was rather limited. By the time that game was over, I wasn't buying Jerry Jones comment that we should allow Bledsoe 1 bad game cause we already had his bad game just a few weeks earlier. That's when I knew it was over for him.

I congratulate those who wanted Romo to start in seasoner opener but also understand Parcells reluctance to make that change at that time. If Romo didn't play well and there no guarantees, then Parcells just threw the season open cause coming back to Bledsoe would be extremely difficult and probably really harmful to the team. But I am sorry for Bledsoe even with all the money he has made. He seems like a good guy and I think desperately wanted to succeed in Dallas and win a SB of his own--that would stop all the bad things which have been said about him the last several years and that was probably very important to him. Now where does he go. Really doubt he wants back up anybody so he will probably retire cause I really don't see any other team picking him up. No team can provide the OL which would protect to the extent he needs unless they can build a cement block wall around him, etc.

Yeah, I couldn't sleep last night, so I cued up the game again. I noticed the same thing. The players EXPECT to be successful! They have so much more confidence in Romo than Bledsoe-and why not? Romo has the highest QB rating in the NFL. Some of his throws are ridiculous. His ability to throw strikes on the run is critical in today's NFL. The guy looks like a little kid out there just having fun playing football in his backyard. They should put him on the cover of MAD magazine......"What, me worry?".....haha.

I myself am so fired up about our future. They are finally playing like the Cowboys again...........yahoooooooo!

The team probably felt tired of Bledsoe throwing picks in the end zone, or the lineman having to block for an extra 3 seconds because Drew holds on to the ball forever.

Not to dampen the party, but if Romo does get hurt, who do we turn to?

Yeah... it may get the "captain obvious" aware NOW... but when some suggested that putting Romo in might do the "obvious"... many were against and many said that there was little chance of that happening...

for the record, not knowing much about Romo at the time, I was willing to see if he could be a spark

Well what does any team do? I mean, isn't at that almost any successful team in NFL asks every week? Especially the ones with Good starting QB.

Well, wouldn't you be discouraged if you drove 80 yards and the QB tossed an interception on the 5 yard line? Once is forgivable, but not more than once. I can see how the team would lose faith. They would be even more down if Romo hadn't stepped up and played well.

Drew Bledsoe was not a leader, that much is clear now. The team goes as their QB goes, and Drew had led us down the path of ruin once too often.

Romo, on the other hand, appears to have complete control of this team, and they in turn appear to respect him more. The O-Line is blockign better, the backs are running harder, the WRs are getting open more quickly and more often, and the defense is playing with a swagger we didnt see early in the year. Even the coaches appear more loose and ready to play aggresive football than they did when Bledsoe was starting. Romo instills a confidence in this team and his coaches from top to bottom in a way I havent seen a Dallas QB do since Aikman in his prime.
