I know we have a Romo / 3rd down topic, but here are a few team stats on 3rd down I just looked up. These are for the total NFL, not just NFC. These stats are for offense. And they are indeed offensive.

* Only (2) teams have a worse % of converting 3rd downs. ( Arizona and Jacksonville).

* Only (9) teams have more 3 and outs than Dallas has.
Dallas has (28) 3 and outs. To give you an idea- Tampa Bay has (19) 3 and outs.

Maybe the problem is Opie and his trash offense, not Romo.

I remember Romo winning division titles and even a playoff game before Mr. Princeton showed up...................................not so much since.

I remember Romo throwing accurately down field on a consistent basis, that consistency has been declining for the past 2 years, it's no longer at a NFL level. Maybe he'll give back the money.

The difference this year from last year is significant even though we have by most accounts an improved offensive line and Dez, so I blame play calling. It would be nice to combine last years offense between the twenties with this years offense in the red zone.

if you do not convert 3rd downs..you can't win in this league..

..or any other league..

..pop Warner or otherwise.

So obviously, until the playcalling gets fixed.

..nothing else changes.

CMP% - Tony Romo is 6th out of 33 total QBs.
YDS/A - Tony Romo is 14th out of 33 total QBs.

Not only is he STILL at an NFL level in accuracy, but he's actually one of the more accurate QBs.

Good post Redball. Not because I started this topic, but I really thought the stats posted above would bring out more discussion. I didnt even get a response of "this should stir the pot" by my buddy jobberone.

Keep going back to as long as Opie controlled this offense... Nothing has changed. His system has always been garbage, but Romo has masked it. He's the band-aid on this flesh wound.

I've been saying 3 and outs have been a major problem during this Garrett era, especially between quarters 2 and 3. The offense usually shows signs of life when score forces Dallas to abandon Garrett's "plan" and "wing it".
