What more can be said about Rayne Dakota?
Moreso than in the 49er game, he seemed a bit skittish following the first TD drive. This was probably his worst ballgame re: ball security and his INT deep in his own end could have been crucial had GB been playing well.
Yet the game moved on and he improved. Some huge throws including one prior to the INT (mind you) which clanged off of Butler. I thought the 4th and 1 play action to Whitehead and the pivot route to Beasley were executed with remarkable precision and sell.
The 97 yard TD drive in 33 seconds was a fortunate circumstance which Linehan and Prescott exploited beautifully. It is discounted due to terrible defense, but Dak has to ultimately make those reads and throws and that ball to Butler was a dime and credit TW for this time getting OB.
Ezekiel: A WOW player of a different model.
This guy. I will say, I'm slightly underwhelmed with his only better than average elusiveness, but his speed and power make up for any shortcomings on any called run play... He always has lean- forward explosion and that is huge when trying to convert short yardage. The speed to the edge is exceptional and he's shored up his ball security issue. His blitz pick-up is superb. He is a weapon out of the backfield on screens and is a great downhill back.
He is maybe the best RB in football right now- bar none and absolutely was a worthy top 5 selection. He reminds me of Curtis Martin or Thurman Thomas with more upside.
Anthony Brown.
This guy is a player to watch. He competes and tackles and is effective outside as well. He is fine in zone or man coverage. He looks like a big time steal and when Claiborne went out the team didn't miss a beat with even Heath as a Nickel CB for a few snaps.
Add in contributions from Lucky, Church, Hitchens had a nice game, McClain, Irving was big today... and things are truly looking up. I still think the Cowboys dropped the ball on a premium DE get in the off-season but the D as a unit is doing a great job keeping opposing scoring down. I do think GB got away with a ton of holds in this game that were not called one time.
Linehan called another phenomenal game. I thought Aikman came off board and disinterested this whole broadcast and prefers the Cowboys to struggle or be in a tight ballgame to stay focused.
