Team's 1T philosophy?

Does anyone know why their philosophy is what it is regarding putting little investment into the 1T? Where does it come from, the rationale behind it, etc? Is it unique to us, or do other teams share this philosophy?

It makes no sense to me, particularly when you invest in LBs with health challenges and that are chase LBs...it seems like two conflicting philosophies to me. I would love some beast in the middle to occupy a C/G combo block.

thanks

They contradict themselves like no other. They place value on guards and centers (1st round picks) on the o-line because of what it can do in terms of production for the skill positions, but they completely disregard the 1T and the same value it would offer for the pass rushers and run and chase linebackers. Makes zero sense to me.

They think they can turn any random big guy into a serviceable 1T so that they can pay their OL and have All-Pros at every position there.

Nick Hayden - 6th round pick
Terrell McClain - Played for 4 teams before coming to Dallas
Stephen Paea - Played for 3 teams before coming to Dallas
Brian Price - Undrafted
Richard Ash - Undrafted

Whatever the thinking they need to change it. You need talented players at every position. If you're thinking you going to roll out a space eater for two downs and replace him on 3rd down I will frustrate you and go with a quick snap. leave him out there or run the risk of having 12 men on the field. Or you could just have better talent out there.... I forgot that wasn't an option:(

They’ve had just enough success to where they think they are doing nothing wrong and it’s working. They just have had a rough go in the past few years due to bad luck, injuries, etc.

Its Marrinelli's phillosophy. Dont use high draft picks or FA on a position that is a 2 down player (if they are just a run plugger).
He can find anyone to fill that role - hense all the gifs of him celebrating all the 6th and 7th ( and UDFA) players we continueously take, and dont make the squad.
If the FO really believes this
A) Talent should outweigh phillosophy.
B) everybody in the NFL realises that the Cowboy weakness is up the middle - except Dallas.
C) there are two "quick twitch", 3 down 1-techs in the 1st round of this draft. If one is there and yet again we pass. My dog had better run !

Marinelli would rather have seven 3-Techs and rotate them in and out constantly and he expects teams to pass more against us because we spend so much on offense that well, they need to catch up to our high scoring.

Also he likes to see Sean Lee get beat down every game, he hates LB’s...

Funny thing is when Tampa Bay was making this style of defense vouge, they had a mutiple Pro Bowl 1 Tech in Booger McFarland

They don’t value the big run stuffer who doesn’t pressure the pocket
The want the one to stuff the run and penetrate but there are really only a few of these types each year
