First 4 games* - 25.25 points per game
Second 4 games** - 18.5 points per game
Last 3 games - 16.6 points per game

*First 4 includes Romo's pick sixes
** Second 4 games includes the Eagles collapse

Yeah... teams are REALLY figuring out Rob Ryan...

Let's take a look at the offense though

First 4 games - 24.75
Second 4 games - 20
Last 3 games - 30.3

When you hold opposing offenses under 20 points a game with the power of this offense, only good things will happen.

I can't remember where I read it, but our scoring defense is pretty dang good when you exclude the pick 6's and special teams flub that the defense had no way of stopping. HUGE turnaround from last season.

Once again Rob Ryan has done an outstanding job and should be retained. As we stand right now we are a borderline top 10 defense if we get an elite pass rusher opposite Ware we become a top 5 defense.

Wins and losses are stats. Stats are for topics of conversation. Which is what this thread seeks.

:D Really, and if not for last two game offensive mistakes at a high level, such as penalties, sacks, and turn-overs, the 13.6, almost two touchdown difference, would be even greater....but of course, us government workers are stuck to the first arrow pulled from the quiver.

It usually is...for those not understanding roles and relationships. Dramatization often puts simpler adjustments into order, as well as better understood. Oh, I get it, just don't let the wife know...

the lack of pressure from spencer is hurting this defense.

Go back and watch the Miami game. Spencer was all over the place

Despite numerous injuries, this is exactly what I hoped for-the defense jelling together and peaking toward the end of the year.

until he does it just about every game he is still not what we really need. Just like those 6 games in 2009 - then he tanked the whole 2010 season; even before the rest did.

That's as full of stuffing as the excuse that Jerry being the GM prevents this team from getting valid talent or winning. And figure this, Wade Phillips can't any longer be any of that excuse....or the flip side, be given all credit as well on young talent on this roster.

Try explaining away Laurent Robinson, Bailey, Fiametta, Murray, Smith, Lee, and Bryant now....and all of that hit the fan since last year's draft. Just how many of those would you say are starters?

he may be figured out, but he still gives us a fighting chance.

You don't have to apologize in spirit, when upon a sea worthy vessel, some will always claim water splashing in as being a leak in the boat. ;)

The quality of the offenses also must be factored in. Three of our last four games are against bad to below average offenses, and Buffalo has been awful on that side of the ball for four weeks now.

Ryan has done a good job, but it's tough to argue that the defense is improving. At best it is staying static, which is good considering how awful we were last year.

Hah...I like that phrase. Never heard it before. I'm going to have to find a way to use that one!

Where I noticed we have weakness is the flats and passes to running backs. They haven't broke a really long one but they have got some mid sized ones.I think we are better in the middle since Lee is playing there as he has more speed.we do a great job of keeping them out of the end zone thats what counts.
