I decided to review all teams that fired their Head Coach.
- Obviously, Kellen Moore & Dan Quinn are candidates for some of the openings.

Do teams that need to develop a young QB hire Defensive Coordinator type Head Coaches?
- Serious Question, I don't know the answer.
- My 'Gut Feeling' is that most teams in that situation hire Offensive minded Head Coaches.

Team, QB, Fired HC
  • Broncos
    • Drew Lock
    • Teddy Bridgewater
    • Fired Head Coach: Vic Fangio
    • HC type: Defensive Coordinator
  • Vikings
    • Kirk Cousins (Age 33)
    • Fired Head Coach: Mike Zimmer
    • HC type: Defensive Coordinator
  • Dolphins
    • Tua Tagovailoa
    • Fired Head Coach: Brian Flores
    • HC type: Linebackers coach
  • Bears
    • Justin Fields
    • Fired Head Coach: Matt Nagy
    • HC type: Offensive Coordinator
  • Jaguars
    • Trevor Lawrence
    • Fired Head Coach: Urban Meyer
    • HC type: Meyer known for offense; although he played DB in college.
  • Texans
    • Deshaun Watson
    • Fired Head Coach: David Culley
    • HC type: Quarterbacks coach
  • Giants
    • Daniel Jones

    • Fired Head Coach: Jon Gruden
    • HC type: Offensive Coordinator

With as many interviews as Quinn is getting, plus he has HC experience, he's bound to get one of those job offers. Whether it's Denver or someone else.

That’s why we need to go all the way this year. I don’t care after that

I agree but an exception could be a defensive coordinator bringing in a well-experienced OC ( Kitchen, Pederson, Jon Gruden ). In other words, imagine Quinn with Jon Gruden in his hip pocket as OC.

Quinn has been requested by 5 of those teams and since they are aware of each other, I see a deal coming down fast. They are not going to let this play out for long if he's their guy.

He is in a real tricky situation and can't play the highest bidder game. That's why you do not see coaches on many interviews. If an offer is made and they decide to keep interviewing, that's a pretty dead deal.

Extensive and respected as always,
I hated losing Sean Payton

On a positive note, if Quinn departs, some of the fired Head Coaches are options as Defensive Coordinators.

Vic Fangio
Brian Flores
Mike Zimmer

Vic Fangio is who I want if Quinn leaves

Flores: I’m not sure about. I’m always worried about defensive coaches out if NE because of BBs influence. How good are they by themselves

Zimmer: I’m not a fan of at all. Too passive

When Zimmer drinks, he can get aggressive.

Im think Denver is done with Lock and will stick with Bridgwater for another year. There is always a possible move for Rodgers if him and GB decide to part ways

Zimmer was passive when he coached here, especially under Parcells. Once he got with Lewis he got alot more aggressive and adept at multiple fronts

He did take a team to the SB too. That matters

If the Jags would just dump that jerk of a GM, it might not be such a bad coaching destination.

Vikes have a nice roster in place, so that seems like a good landing spot. They have Green bay in their way, but Rodgers won't be there forever.

Flores is probably getting a job unless he blows the interview. Zimmer was already a defensive coordinator here and fans wanted him gone. Fangio is interesting but I don’t his smack talking left a good impression on the Cowboys front off. The secondary coach might be the favorite because the Cowboys almost hired him as the defensive coordinator in 2020.
