Tebow's dad thinks son will go in top 15 picks

The consensus now surrounding Tim Tebow's draft stock is that he won't make it out of the second round. His father, Bob Tebow, thinks he'll go a lot higher than that.

"If the Jaguars don't take him at 10, he'll be gone by 15," Bob Tebow told Sam Kouvaris of 1010XL in Jacksonville last week. (Click column "Is Tim coming here?" for full story.)
Don't assume these are simply the words of a biased father. I have heard similar rumors that members of Tebow's camp are convinced, right or wrong, he will go in the top half of the first round.

Yes, this could easily be predraft scuttlebutt aimed at getting a team to jump on Tebow. But Bob Tebow's matter of fact confidence comes from somewhere.

I've heard enough information from a separate source that makes me believe Tebow has a better chance of getting taken in the first round than the Mock Draft Mafia believes.

At the very least, clearly Tebow thinks he will be drafted that high.

His agent is also saying that he knows exactly where he's going to be picked and it's going to "shock" people. I'm all for him being drafted anywhere before 27 and pushing another premium player down the board.

Still firmly believe this guy is an utter waste as a QB.

Any team that drafts this guy in the first couple rounds is making a major reach IMO. If Jacksonville drafst him at 10, del Rio should just walk out of the room and quit.

If he goes that high, that is the only plausible reason I could see it happening under.

I agree completely that we want him taken < 27. That pushes one player one slot down...not much but better than nothing.

No chance Jacksonville takes him at 10 though. There GM has stated they will go BPA and that Tebow is just not rated rated remotely that high by them. If they trade down to the top of round 2 and pick up some extra picks...maybe it happens. Or if he does go high, maybe a team trades up to the Jags spot and takes him.

Picking a player for marketing purposes is nuts and they have said as much. Anyway, the polls run in Jacksonville papers seems to say his makreting impact would be positive but not all that much...and it would fade to near zero if the team didn't do well.

Again, mark it down....Tebow will not go to Jacksonville at 10. I tried to bet MB4 on this but he dropped it to "Tebow will be slected by someone inthe 1st round"...which is not a big stretch. I'll take the no Tebow at Jax at 10 bet with anyone.

That's one reason why I would take the "no Tebow at Jax's 10" bet....they are not idiots.

I don't think they'd take him at any of the other slots you mentioned either (especially not at 15), but you never know. I just don't think they like him enough as a QB and they have way too many other pressing needs on defense--and this draft is loaded in their areas of need. Also, they have mentioned more than once that next year's QB class could be one of the best in 20 years.

I dont think they care if hes any good or not to be honest. They still want him.

They can do a double trade down

10 to 15(Giants take McClain)
Then from 15 to 23, 24, or 27.

But that might be pushing it, the Browns and Bills might want to get in on this

He went in the first. I did not remember seeing a special light from heaven during the pick. Little over dramatic me thinks. Must be a personal issue.
