Tech question (regarding tethering/hotspot)

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight. I have a Lenovo U410 that runs Windows 8.1. My primary browser of choice is Google Chrome. Over the summer, I've been staying with some people who don't have Wi-Fi, so I downloaded PDAnet + with Foxfi, and I paid the $8 to get the full version. This allows me to turn my phone into a mobile hot spot and/or tether directly via Bluetooth or usb so that I can get on the internet on my laptop. Anyway, something strange happens when I do this. For some reason, the only browser that works when I do this is Internet Explorer. I can't do anything on Google Chrome. I type in an address and it just loads and loads and loads. On Firefox, I can actually use the search engine in the address bar (it's set to Google search), but once I actually click on a link, it just loads and loads and loads. Anyway, I don't really like Internet Explorer at all. I can tolerate it, as I'll only be here another 3 weeks, but I'm just curious exactly why no other browsers work. Any ideas?

For what it's worth, I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android/Google phone).

Strange I can't think of any reason why browsers would act differently. It would be interesting to see if a VPN on each acted different, I have a theory on that as to why Chrome and Firefox do weird buggy things each separately.

Sounds kind of like a DNS issue but I wouldn't know why at the browser level. Weird.

On a side note do be quite careful with using the hotspot. Someone I know told me just a few days ago that she was using hotspot all last month A LOT and ended up with a bill for SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Wow.

Thanks for the heads up. I should be in good shape though. I have monthly prepaid through Metro PCS. My plan is $60 a month for unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data. I've been using tethering for like two months now and my bills are still the same. Metro PCS doesn't have a cap on 4G like lots of companies that claim to provide unlimited data, and they don't have additional surcharges on usage. That's why I love Metro.
