I didn't listen to either file. If it's sarcastic, then excuse me.

But am I allowed to say I could care less about Bruschi's comeback?

I can't listen to this one, or the previous one but for a completely different reason.

I hope there are more stories about whizzonators and sex cruises and motorcycle accidents for the fans to focus on. Give the people what they want I guess, more sleeze.

A good guy comes along and they should never tell us those stories. I can't help but wonder what people here would have thought of Rocky Bleier or Brian Piccolo.

I felt it was a good story, about a good guy, and I'm glad ESPN told it. Of course, I have personal reasons as well so maybe that means my opinion means less on this topic.

Hey Hos, you're not alone. I'm happy to see these kinds of stories. It sure beats the hell out of hearing how brave Brett Favre is for throwing four interceptions and *still* having the courage to come out and throw a fifth.

You know Teddy a little closer than I , but I was a freshman at UA when they were on the cover of SI and were supposed to go to the Rose Bowl. Even then he was an approachable guy, cruising around campus on his mo-ped.

I think you're missing the point, Hos. Of course it's a good thing that they TOLD the story.

But they obviously went OVERBOARD with it. Even with the "Bad" things that happen in sports, they rarely go overboard with it (the Rush Limbaugh thing comes to mind).

Hell, Ray Carruth had a hitman kill his wife (ex gf?) and they didn't even go overboard with that.

Like I mentioned in that other thread, it's not THAT big of a deal. My father has had a bullet lodged in his heart for over 20 years and has had numerous heart attacks that he didn't even know he had. He had a stroke while doing a stress test (concerning his heart) and didn't even realize it. Nobody's about to nominate him for the presedential elections.

And that's coming from someone that doesn't even like his father. I've always like Bruschi. A bit overated, but a good, solid football player. What he did isn't "great". If his stroke were serious, he wouldn't of been able to come back. Period.

LOL

I remember those days. He rode a red Vespa didn't he?

Desert Swarm was a fun defense to watch. I hope Stoops brings that kind of agreesion back.

After hearing these clips, I respect Teddy Bruschi as much as I ever did. This is nothing more than poking fun at the idiot Sunday night ESPN announcers.

You're entitled to your opinion Rack. I'm entitled to mine.

I don't think it was overboard at all. I wanted to hear it. Again, it goes personal for me though.

It did go overboard. By a long shot. The fact that it's "personal" for you only means that you have a bias in this situation.

There's been plenty other good stories, but since they weren't "personal" to you, it's no big deal. I don't (and never have) seen you make a big deal out of the time Anthony Thomas rescued some people from a burning vehicle on his way to practice one day. THAT is great. He saved lives. Bruschi is playing football, something he's always done. Not a big deal. Again, if the stroke were serious he wouldn't be able to play.

Hell, I've saved 2 different people from drowning before (no, I've never been a lifeguard), but you didn't see a news special about me in the 6 O'clock news.

Hell, I played through turf toe, a stinger in my neck, and a partially torn rotator cuff last year and I don't even get paid to play. I don't consider that a big deal and I certainly don't consider what Bruschi did a big deal.

Again, you're entiteld to your opinion and I am to mine. I'm not going to change my opinion.

I didn't see the Anthony Thomas story and if I did I wouldn't want to see it being mocked.

Well, people are entitled to their opinions. So if they want to "Mock" bruschi they can do so.

You won't admit it either way, but IMO (that I'm entitled to) if you didn't work with Bruschi's wife this wouldn't be as big a deal to you. Not saying you wouldn't enjoy the story, but it wouldn't be AS BIG a deal to you. If I worked with Bruschi's wife I'd probably feel the same way.

I promise you that has nothing to do with it, but I admit it probably makes it harder for me to stomach.

I just happen to appreciate when there's a good story about a good person. It's such a nice change from the police blotter crap dirty laundry crap you usually have to wade through.

I think Bruschi is embarassed with all the exposure his return was given. He's just a guy who went back to work after a health issue. Here in Boston he was totally trying to avoid all the media onslaught.

Its a good story - I think ESPN went overboard at the end of the day its still a good story.

Moral of the story...

Theismann sucks.
And so does the rest of that wack ESPN crew.

We can all agree on that, right?

They aren't mocking Bruschi for coming back, or for his stroke: They're mocking ESPN. I figured it would be very, very easy to see this.

It's simple: ESPN and the Sunday Night crew have to have some sort of *** to hump each and every Sunday night. They need a story. When they have one, they abuse it. Plays are magnified. Dwight Freeney will make a sack and they make it sound like he went through the Great Wall of China. Vick will run for 13 yards and they make it sound like he was able to run away from a pack of hungry wolves. Manning will throw a crisp, hard-thrown pass, and they make it sound like no one has ever done it before.

I respect Bruschi as much as anyone else, but ESPN absolutely KILLS storylines or good stories. Bruschi is NOT being mocked, ESPN is. Plain and simple.
