Would fans be too upset if we did not address defense in first two rounds? I personally like Quarles and think he has high upside and could be a beast at the 1 tech. I like Martin as well but I still worry about DE but I couldn't pass up Evans and Su, those guys are day 1 starters.

Thoughts?

I'm not as high on Evans as some, Sua would be a fantastic pick at 47, but I don't think there's anyway he makes it that far.

Quarles and Martin are at minimum strong rotation guys. I haven't seen Dowling, Jackson or Darby Norwood and Crowell are fine picks. I was high on Barnet and watched a couple of him games and sort of got down on him. Do you have a game where he did a little something? I want to like the guy just can't.

I'd have to know who was there at 16, board would need to be pretty bare for me to take Evans

I actually like most (almost all) of the players that you took.
But this is a VERY deep WR class. If you want another WR, wait for a few rounds and still find someone who can contribute.
I assume you don't think Terrance Williams will ever be a good WR2? Otherwise, you'd never burn a 1st rounder at the position...unless, maybe, you plan to let Dez walk next year.

Dez will be a Cowboy I believe for many years to come, Williams is a good number #2 but we have seen too many injuries on this team to ever assume we can get by at any one position. The main fear I have is what happens if Dez would go down? Dez, Evans and Williams with Beasley and Harris is a nice young tandom that would be a force for years to come.

The only two other players I really liked at the #16 slot was CJ Mosely and Dee Ford. Mosely and Lee together really intrigues me and Dee speed rush and first step is as good as any I have seen in recent memory. Took Evans because he was BPA in my book and I was looking out for the future as well as the present.

Donald was gone, Bears took him or he would have been my pick.

I just think the 16th overall pick is awfully rich for an insurance policy, and when we have huge needs at most of the starting positions on defense.

I do understand why we may want to add a WR. And this draft is loaded in the later rounds. In any case, I feel certain the team will do that via the draft and/or free agency. Just not in Rd1. Anyway, I suspect Evans could be gone anyway.

I think Quarles is starting right besides Melton when the season starts, a lot of Clowney success came from having to account for Quarles. He had 9.5 sacks this past season in a good conference, I think he has the intangibles of a great 1 tech.

If Evans is truly there, I believe we get offers for a trade, but I wanted to mock without trades.

I agree with the depth of WR in this class, and if Evans does fall to the Cowboys, the phones will be ringing. This team needs every position in my mind, some more so but if we would take the BPA approach we give ourselves a better future. Imagine, Williams and Evans on outside and being able to move Dez around to create mismatches. This would be scary, but I do see your point, and I want defense just as much as everyone else.

Was just too hard to pass up..

Barnet for me is a big body that plugs up the middle and will free up others. He is not as fast as I would like and plays high sometimes but in the 7th round its low risk with potential high reward.

NFLDS is a good way to evaluate where you pick players. It's not perfect, but it probably the most accurate from year to year.

Su'a-Filo is ranked by most as the 1st or 2nd OG (depending on if you consider Martin an OG or OT). Do you think he makes it to #47?

I like almost all of the players that you picked, but I just don't think many of them will be available at those spots.

I think Su, Martin and Norwood definitely will not be there. Evans you never know on him? If I was a betting man, he will be gone.

Quarles 3rd could happen, Murray depending on pro day could happen.

I like the Western Kentucky guys, really could be good on special teams and depth.

I'd be really surprised if Su is there at 47. I see him going somewhere between late 20s and mid 30s.
If he is, I'd certainly take him.

Anyway, lots of good picks in your draft.
