I will assume Gurley, Gordon, Johnson, and Jones are off the board.

27. Marcus Peters CB- There has been talks that he has been slipping because of his off the field issues, Jones and Johnson are now getting the attention that he was getting in start of the draft. Cowboys brought him on a visit and have done their homework. Cowboys aren't afraid of challenges, (Dez, now Hardy, McClain) because they believe they have a good support group. Peters reminds of Asante Samuels in a way, aggressive ball hawk type corner but a better tackler. He is a tad too aggressive and handsy, but so is Richard Sherman, some players can get away with it, and I believe Peters is that type of player.

60. Damarious Randall FS- Yes I am double dipping in the secondary, but the Cowboys have let Randall know that they believe he is the best safety in this draft in their eyes. He is instinctive, great tackler, and will be a true FS on this team that will make plays. I believe he will play a huge role on the defense this year and eventually by mid season be a starter.

91. Mike Davis RB- This is one of my top 5 RB and he will be there in the 3rd round, some will say wait until the 4th but I think he would be gone by our pick. Davis is a runner I like due to his power, vision, uses his legs and stays low to the ground with his runs. He fumbles rarely, and he gets the dirty yards. He does not have the elite speed or home run speed but neither did Murray, E. Smith, and behind our line I believe Davis could be our clock eater and help our team win the time of possession battle.

127. Tyeler Davison DT- Would help that one tech position that I feel we so desperately need on this defense, I think he would be better than Hayden, but hey the coaches seem to like him more then I do. Davison is hard to block and I think he would require two blockers that would give Crawford some better one on one match-ups. He could be one of the steals of the draft.

163. Sean Mannion QB- I know this will be the unpopular pick but the Cowboys want to start looking for their next Tony Romo, is Mannion it? Probably not but I believe they want to draft a QB and this is probably the guy. He has the size, can make all the throws. He needs to work on his reads, mobility is not great but behind our line he has more time and can learn the progression reads behind Romo. I know you will probably hate this pick but it makes sense, we are not getting Petty, Hundley, and the 5th round is a good round to take a chance.

236- Marcus Rush LB- I have seen several guys that have mocked him here, and I am also a fan of this guy, I think he will be a great special teams player and think he could be a solid backup.

243. Adam Shead OG- We brought him in at Dallas Day, he is 340 pounds and can be a great run blocker. We need some depth on the OL, and I think with a year or two he can be a much stronger player.

First 4 picks can help our team right away and in areas that we have needs. CB is a spot where we have no clue what will happen with Mo, Carr and now Scandrick wanting more money. We need help in this area not only due to contracts but performance. We need a FS that can actually play FS and that has been an area where we have lost the battle for too many years now, we need help there. RB we need a power back, we have speed with McFadden, Randall, Dunbar or Williams whichever wins the 2nd RB spot. And finally a one tech that is much needed on the DL, we need help on the interior part of our DL.

Have at it!

While I would like to see a DE in there somewhere, this draft upgrades some real weak spots on our team.

I'm not a huge fan of going DB in the first two rounds, but I would be pretty happy with this haul. Don't mind Davis in the third either.

Nice mock.

I can see your logic. We certainly need DB's.

[1] I would get a pass rusher earlier.
[2]I even think RB in the first because of low drafting position.
i.e.] either a slight trade down or just take your RB where you sit
and get that five year contract. If we're a ground game team I
want to take care of that game with the best i can offer the offensive coaches.

Good mock and very good write-ups. It seems to be well thought out and reasonable. I would prefer to get a DE earlier, but they have to stick with BPA.

Peter and Randall both scare me a little, but I think the risk is reasonably low. Peters character issues don't seem to be too extreme. Randall can definitely cover which is a question with many Safeties. It is his instincts/angles/tacking on run defense that scare me. I think they can coach him up because it does not seem like he has any reluctance to tackle, he's just not consistent doing it.

Mike Davis in the 3rd is a home-run. He is really underrated. I also like that he would be a nice compliment to McFadden; whereas, guys like Coleman/Gordon are just McFadden clones.

Davison is a good value pick. They don't seem to be very focused on drafting a DT, but again BPA is the key.

Rush was an undersized college DE. His skill is rushing the passer. I don't know if he is big enough to play DE in the NFL, but it's worth a shot in the 7th.

Adam Shead has the basics that you look for in an OL. He moves well and is powerful with good arm length. I think losing a few pounds would cure a lot of his other issues.

I might prefer a player or position change here or there but overall it would be ok.

I'd be very happy with this. Could live without Mannion. Would rather roll the dice on Frank Clark at that point.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I wanted a DE as well but I am not seeing the value at our picks unless I reach or someone drops like Beasley did in Kiper and McShay's mock last night then I would be all over it. I like Mario Edwards in the 3rd but someone will take him in the 2nd, I like Odighizuwa a lot but in a small trade back scenario, Frank Clark and Za'Darius Smith are going to be good players I like in the 4th but I think they will get snatched in the 3rd. I know many like Hunter and say his scheme prevented him to play to his potential, I am on the fence with him. But do the Cowboys reach or do the Cowboys value them higher then I do? Do they trade up? (I would hate that but could happen) Obviously, I don't know the answer, but I was trying to stay with the BPA approach. And I love listening to other opinions on the subject.

WR is tricky to, its hard to pick a WR for me unless he is going to take a spot and Dez, Williams, Beasley, and Street seem to be locked up, unless Devin Smith falls to 60 and I am all over him. He has what we lack and that is speed to be able to spread the defense.

I know we are all looking for the next return specialist, there may be guys that go undrafted such as Akeem Hunt. (RB) He would be a good return guy for our team but he is projected as a 7th rounder that I could see falling and maybe go undrafted. I don't know that for sure but every year we see good return guys go undrafted and make the team.

QB situation, the Cowboys placed way more emphasis this year then any year that I can remember. They want to start grooming, this is probably not the right class to groom, but maybe they see something we don't?

Thanks for the feedback.

I like it overall. Mannion won't be there I don't think.
